Smoltzy talking about how the Cubs approach comes and goes. "Today it's here, yesterday it's not." The Cubs stood around all night without taking the bats off their shoulders against Kluber and he just painted. He should've just talked about how the way to beat the Cubs is fill the strike zone with elite pitches.

A little help from the umpire helps too. Cubs still had guys in scoring opportunities yesterday despite all that.

Smoltz is of the opinion that the Cubs are doing things right when they score, and wrong when they don't, and throws in words like "approach" to fill time when he has no idea how it makes the Cubs good, or what it actually means.

That's the beautiful thing about Smoltz, he just creates whatever narrative suits him.

He's worse than Steve Stone. A lot worse.

I still dislike Chapman in non clean non save situations

For sure. Part of me wonders if he's such a dick that he just fucks around in runners on/multiple inning situations. Not really, but at the same time it wouldn't shock me.

Was it game 5 vs the Dodgers where he "struggled" in the 9th? It was pretty clear he didn't give a horsefeathers because of the score.

Hey, don't diss Stoney. I learned *some* baseball listening to him. I'll never get why *anyone* slides into first on a close play, for example. :-)
