It still has not "hit me" that the Cubs made it to the world series. is anyone else on the same boat?

I feel it, but if I start to think about it all I get choked up. So, I'm just holding it together. 4 more wins

I remember in 97 when I was 12 years old, after the cubs started the season losing 14 straight, trying to figure out the pace they would have to play to win the division.

I remember being a little kid having the stomach flu barfing my guts out and listening to the Cubs game and Sandberg hitting 2 home runs.

I remember growing up going to Cincinnati to watch Cubs games and seeing them get their asses kicked every time I went, but always begging my dad to stay for the whole game.

I remember finally getting to see a game at Wrigley field, not believing that I was actually watching Sammy Sosa in person. I remember being so bummed that I never got to go to a game before Sandberg retired, and then being blown away that he just happened to be singing the 7th inning stretch my first game at wrigley.

This is so awesome.

this is a lot like something i would write

Ever since 1984, every single good or bad situation the Cubs have been in in the postseason, I've had a feeling something bad, insane, stupid, whatever, was going to happen. Last night when they scored that first run, I told my son, whose only Cubs playoff memories are 2007-on, " game over, they're going to the Series". It was the most confident I'd been in the team at any point since being up 2-0 in 1984.

It still hasn't completely sunk in.

just noticed theo's wife was at the game and on tv. was that the first time she was in the public eye since the introductory presser day?

It still hasn't set in that tomorrow night, I will watch the Cubs play in the World Series. I will probably not get much accomplished over the next few days. I've already said to hell with my school dress code as I'm teaching today in my powder blue Cubs throwback jersey and will be wearing another tomorrow... and my head of school doesn't care. She knows I've waited too long for this.

I was wearing a Cubs t-shirt on the days both my children were born....hell, I watched a Cubs game in the delivery room each time.

I've voted for Cubs way too many times for the All-Star games, chased way too many around for an autograph, and gotten some neat stories along the way.

I even led an unsuccessful, but quite hilarious, attempt to have the Cubs declared the official baseball team here by the Monroe newspaper.

I've driven countless miles to watch them. I've spent too many hours on this message board too but met some great people along this journey.

I don't think I will be able to make it to Chicago this weekend, so I will gather and harass everyone here in Louisiana.

It's been a journey...ups and downs...but one hellova ride! Go horsefeathering Cubs! Go!

In the fall of 2011, this board quaked at the hiring of Theo Epstein. We had more optimism than what we had ever had before. Thru some twists and turns, with lots of disagreements here over the HOW, in 2014, it was apparent we were getting close to being relevant.....

And HOLY horsefeathers at what's happened since then. If we wanted a FA? He was ours. Not only ours, but at a horsefeathering discount.

The kids we dreamed about? They've turned into best possible outcomes for almost all of them.

Seriously, this is basically a horsefeathering dream.
