Cubs won their 101st game tonight, which is the most since the 1910 team won 104. They've also got a run differential of 252, which would be the 6th best over a 162 game season. If they can get to 263, it will be the third best behind only the 98 Yankees (309) and 01 Mariners (300).

CUBS are 101-56 when they play a baseball game

CUBS are 48-21 in the second half

CUBS are 16-9 in September

CUBS are 14-3 against the Pirates

CUBS are 44-32 on the road

CUBS are 20-10 when Arrieta starts

Go CUBS !!

So you're saying there's a chance, if we win out and can find that elusive 20 run game

Love putting the Cubs in a positive light but the RD stat is slightly misleading because something like 15 other teams had a better run differential before 162 game seasons like the 27 Yankees were over 400. That said you might just being using that benchmark to imply 3rd best RD in modern era (post 1960)

I mainly did it because I haven't found a way to search for full season run differential. On B-R, you can search for the first X games of a season, which was fine when we were looking where the Cubs were after 40 games. But if I go the first 162, it only shows teams that played 162 games.

That looks an awful lot like a playoff dress rehearsal lineup (except that Lester and Ross will be playing Game 1).

Well if Lester starts, Javy will too.

Alright, so it's an Arrieta-start dress rehearsal lineup.

I'd still prefer Javy in there over Cogs when Jake is pitching even against a righty. I think having Javy's defensive upgrade is more valuable than Cog's considerably smaller offensive upgrade.

pretty serious storm just knocked out my satellite signal. so i go to accuweather to see how long it'll be in my way. looks like most of it has passed and i'm like ok cool no problem. check the minute cast and there's rain for the foreseeable future. then i actually hit play on the radar thingy and the storm is moving from east to west WTF

signal just came back tho :)
