apparently the forecast in philly this weekend for the mets is looking really bad and there might be some craziness with doubleheaders. i don't even want to begin to try to wrap my head around what that would cause.

i really don't think playing an extra game hurts them all that much.

Plus the 3 way tie is more fun to watch.

 

i'd much rather root against having to potentially face the best pitcher in the NL twice in 5 games. i'll root for madness in the AL for the fun.

 

plus the mets with thor only once is my ideal opponent so i'd like to lock that in

 

If that's what you're rooting for (as I am), then we want the Mets to clinch a spot in the wild card game on Saturday so Thor would pitch the wild card game. If the Mets don't clinch on Saturday, Thor pitches Sunday and would be ready for Game 1 (and game 5, if necessary) of the NLDS should the Mets get through the Wild Card game.

Yeah, the extra games really only affect the Mets. Either they clinch early and Thor goes in the WC game or they don't and Thor can pitch twice if the NLDS goes 5. Cueto could go in a two-way tiebreaker on Monday on short rest or in the second game of a three way tiebreaker Tuesday but they might start him in Game 2 regardless (short rest under the 3-way tie scenario). Bum goes the WC game regardless, as does Martinez.

Kershaw does not really seem full strength yet, though.

 

Besides, Thor comes in behind Lester and Hendricks as best in NL, also. :)

Since Bartolo Colon only threw 47 pitches on Monday in Miami, Terry Collins told reporters Colon may come back on short rest on Friday in Philadelphia. That would put Colon on the proper rest for next Wednesday's wild-card game if Noah Syndergaard is unavailable. Syndergaard is due to pitch the regular-season finale on Sunday in Philadelphia. Syndergaard would be limited to only 25 pitches if the Mets already have clinched and then pitch the wild-card game. But he'll go far longer if the Mets need that game.
