Really glad that the Cardinals play after the Cubs tomorrow since the Cardinals are on the west cost. Means the Cubs have a chance to clinch with a win, instead of backing into a clinch with a Cardinals loss.

Yep, pretty sweet. We discussed this earlier in the week but the worst case scenario would be the Brewers somehow winning tomorrow and the Cardinals losing the west coast game, ending after midnight Chicago time when a lot of Cubs fans are sleeping, and then the Cubs having to do the same thing as last year which is celebrate after the next days game. It's a rather minor thing either way, clinching is clinching, but I'd like to be able to win to clinch it.

Still tickets available for tomorrow night's game. Thinking of buying some and heading down. Is Montgomery really starting?

I'm flying in from Tempe, AZ tomorrow morning and headed to the Thurs.night game and the games all weekend. I picked this weekend back in April based more on the Bears game on Monday because I wanted a weekend when both the Cubs and Bears were in town. Got lucky it seems.

Is anyone still doubting Lester should start game 1? I think the discussion is over.

I mean, Hendricks pitched well two days ago.

Either is acceptable.

Either way, I don't mind Jake pitching game 3 and I don't think he should mind. If anything it should motivate him. Plus I still hold out hope that he's holding something back and will turn into God-mode in the playoffs. If that's the case, then you want him pitching a tough game against the WC team's ace on the road.

Basically, he might be the 3rd best pitcher this year, but even including Lester he probably has the highest ceiling for any one start.

He did? Must have missed that... :D

Hendricks is pulling an "Arrieta" second half for sure, but Lester is the seasoned vet you want with the season on the line in a game 5 situation.

Hendricks 2nd half ERA - 1.33

Lester 2nd half ERA - 1.51

They are both putting on 85% God Mode Jake 2015 2nd Half performances.

It would obviously require losing the next two games, but in a situation where Cubs and Cardinals both lose tomorrow, this team is carefree enough to do something weird like mob the guy who makes the last out to lose the game and then celebrate on the field anyways. Which would be pretty great.

who's hurt

Zobrist was hit by the pitch. I assume it stung for a minute. DIdn't delay long.

MLB At Bat's vague injury delay can be disconcerting.

The pitch hit him on the top of his left foot. Looked like it hit his toe pretty good, but he seems ok.
