Don't wanna say I called it, but my optimistic prediction for Hammel came true last game. \:D/ I might be a baseball seer. :-k

Next up, the Cubs welcome the Giants to to the friendly confines. The Giants have been scuffling for a while now, and I fully expect the Cubs to take it to them. I wasn't aware that its standard practice for Giants to, in the fashion of using canaries in mine-shafts to check for gas deposits, use sharks to test new waters for them. I'm thinking this shark is gonna have a full on dong explosion on his hands.

The Giants are sending Samardjhaoj;gvsdifvpof... that guy who used to pitch for the Cubs and who was a receiver for Brady Quinn at Notre Dame out to open this series up.

NICE TRY JEFF BUT TRYING TO LOOK LIKE TIM LINCECUM (go a little cross eyed, you'll see it) WON'T SCARE US SINCE THAT GUY HAS SUCKED FOR YEARS NOW.

Good news, once our offense turns this guy into chum, Tommy La Sealboy won't have to be scared for his life any more.

The Cubs will send out Mike Montgomery to kick things off. He has been solid for us, and I think we're in for more of the same with this one. Wouldn't it be something if he emerged as a solid lefty rotation piece for us next year when all he cost was a Vogelbach?

Do that thing where you win and you don't lose and its not close. Keep on Cubbing it up Cubs.

Since the all star break, the Cubs are 32-12, best in baseball.

Since the all star break, the Giants are 15-27, worst in baseball, which includes a Twins team that has lost 13 straight.

We all knew the Cubs were struggling going into the break, but we also knew the Cubs had a favorable schedule coming out of the break with a nice homestand and short trips to the south side and Milwaukee. But 20 games over post-break entering September? That's what I call takin' care of business! Len always mentions the most pivotal game of the year thus far was the win in Pittsburgh right before the break. It didn't seem like a huge win at the time, although it halted a 5 game losing streak, somehow it righted the ship heading into the second half. I tend to agree with Len on this one.
