Greetings all from the not-so-sunny shores of Lake Michigan. Of course now that I'm out in this neck of the woods the Cubs run off to the mountains to hang out with some weird purple triceratops in a vest or something. Still not sure what's going on there.

 

At least I'm about 95% sure it's my turn to start this dumb thread. I'd say I'm hopeful about not going 0-3 but it's Mike Montgomery spot starting in Coors, soooo.....

 

I'm guessing on the starter, but I believe Jeff Hoffman is making his major league debut tonight. Here's hoping the Cubs give him a rude welcome filled with dongs. Go Cubs!

Len and JD were talking about the inspiration for the Rockies dinosaur mascot during yesterday's game. During construction of Coors Field, they found a massive triceratops fossil. They even considered naming the stadium Jurrasic Park (the '90s, man) before settling on the mascot.

 

And yes, Jeff Hoffman is making his big league debut. Supposedly, Hoyer and McLeod were infatuated with him his draft year but that was before he needed TJS and the Cubs ended up taking Schwarber instead. In fact, Epstein, Hoyer and McLeod were there the start he got hurt.

I lived in Denver at the time the Rockies showed up and when Coors was being built. Andres Gallarocka was on the ballot for the mascot name which is stupid. I definitely remember Jurassic Park and thought it was just as ridiculous.
