That dude is going to be a [expletive] monster. [expletive] the haterz.

Would an NL DH be better for the Cubs in terms of Schwarber or Soler?

Probably Soler TBH

That's to say nothing of either offensively.

I guess Soler is good now!

Gonna be interesting to see how PT works once we return to the NL. actually might work out if Jorge and Willson and Miggy and Willson work out a split in PT. less Miggy is more

No, I am saying that losing 40 percent of your division lead in four games is meaningful.

Really depends on what that division lead is. Again, 6.5 games up on August 15th is a GREAT position to be in.

Absolutely! My response was to someone who posted that they didn't care about results at this point. I was simply saying that I still care about the results. I'm not at all worried but when you look at what could go wrong, getting swept by the second place team is near the top of the list (results wise).

It's "going wrong" in the sense that the Cubs would win the division with a less commanding lead.

Care to elaborate why it wouldn't be?

heh. baez gets thrown out trying to steal but that ground ball seemed like an easy double play. so it may actually work out (unless it's overturned)

Well, it certainly correlates in my mind. High point of season, 27 games over, 12.5 up in division, then get swept. It's a reminder that things can turn around quickly as they did in that case. A four game sweep could cut the lead right back down to 6.5 and that would be worrisome. It's definitely a series with high potential consequences.

lol... no it's not.

Really? What a weak response. And disrespectful. I would have expected better from you.

The potential consequence of being swept in that series -- which is very unlikely in itself -- is that we would still have something around a 6-8 win lead or so. That's still a huge lead. So much else would have to happen even after this apocalyptic event that it is silly to worry about it. The consequences of that one particular series are infinitesimal.

I guess you're assuming Soler continues his current splits- I was surprised by those. Schwarber so far hasn't hit lefties at all though.

When a fly ball is hit to an outfield at this Coliseum, why does the outfield feel so much bigger than Wrigley?

I was looking at the comparison of the dimensions and there is definitely more area in the outfield in Oakland... however, it doesn't seem to be significantly more than Wrigley.

is it just me or is this really odd wording

It wasn't me, it was the leinenkugel writing that.

Schwarber destroyed LHP in his MiLB stint. He doesn't need to be platooned - he's a "professional hitter" so to speak and doesn't need to be platooned. I'm a believer in Soler but not a fan of EVER platooning the two. Mix and match the OF. Plus Dex may be gone next year and so that just gives more options.
