Guess we'll just have to be cool with 2 of 3 the rest of the way. And yes, there's nothing wrong with that, I know.

The post-break team has been very relaxing and consistent. Basically .666 ball with no streaks.

Why do we keep trading for these [expletive] ass relievers?

because he's side armed which will really freak out the opponents. Or something.

There was no reason to trade for Joe Smith.

Even if Smith is awful, he cost us almost literally nothing and if he really is awful - unlikely - he will be booted in short order.

Any reliever that allows a run is useless.

You pretty excited about Montgomery and Joe Smith?

ill admit I have a short rope for Smith because I didn't like the addition. That said I'm sure Bosio is working with him to see if he can get him back to his 2013-2014 stuff and it would take multiple appearances to see if he's effective.

I don't know much about Joe, but I'm for sure excited for Montgomery.

It's a varied look from the pile of young rights fireballers the Cubs have otherwise.

Smith and Montgomery have a combined ERA of like 8 right now

In like 3 innings for the Cubs.

Yes, if they had given up the 3 runs or whatever they've given up in 30 innings, their ERA would be around 1. That's how it works.

Montgomery, yes. Smith, whatever, if you look at what we gave up, you can barely even call it a trade. See if he finds a good arm slot or Bosio does something. If not, oh no we're out our 47th best prospect.

Yes and that would probably be a large enough sample to say that those guys are pretty good. 3 innings is not.

Really hope CJ can put away Jeff 'Destroyer of Worlds' Mathis. Edited by Ski

ERA is a limited benefit stat, and completely pointless to draw from a 3 inning sample. That's the point, spaz.
