Robbie Gould got cut

Yeah. So uh do we even have another kicker on the roster?

I think the plan is to bring back Olindo Mare again, though I'd prefer Morten Anderson.

Nope. We will be signing someone off the street and starting them week 1

I'm assuming they are saving money by doing this then? Weird timing if you haven't even worked out other kickers

That's pretty much how Gould got his start, so maybe they're hoping to hit that jackpot again.

Apparently he was awful in practices during training camp. Bears were probably going to try to ride with him this year but given last year and this preseason, he forced them to change their thinking.

I saw a report that Connor Barth most likely on his way to Chicago. Great. :banghead:

63 of 64 from inside 40 yards since 2010, and a career 84.8% kicker. What's the problem?

Gould for 3.75M or Barth for league minimum when they're essentially the same kicker at this point. Easy decision.

Pretty sure that makes Jay the longest tenured Bear

By 3 full years! The 2nd longest tenured Bear is Alshon Jeffery. Cutler became a Bear in 2009. Jeffery was a 2012 draft pick.

If I had faith in this front office I'd be excited for this move to help a bad o line. My faith is questioned though and will have to wait to judge.

Eh, 2nd year. Pace still at least deserves some cautious optimism. My only real complaints so far is completing horsefeathering up the White and now McPhee injury situations. I'm never going 100% like any GMs draft. I have no problems with the Marshall, Forte, and Bennett moves. I can't complain about the OL talent anymore, because the Bears just went from a "wait-and-see" OL to an above average group overnight. He's definitely made some questionable moves and we haven't seen much from his draft picks yet other than Goldman, but this was probably going to be a 3-year thing anyway. His regime will be made or broken based on the QB he chooses for the future.

I havent been watching, is Whitehair not working out? I thought he was good.

Oh ok, Whitehair might be playing center, then.

Whitehair has looked better each game (didn't play the last preseason game). Ironically enough, he didn't look so great as the 2nd team C in the preseason opener. But he has played and practiced there in camp, but I'm not sure how many reps he's gotten recently. Hopefully, he'll get every rep at C this week and they'll make him the starter. Larsen isn't very good.

I thought Whitehair was a future stud LG, but he should be fine at OC too. Probably not a good look for Hroniss Grasu's future as a Chicago Bear.

Sure, cautious optimism, but that's not the same to me as actually having faith in his tenure. Not much has happened to make me excited about the future, and the present day remains blah.

Do you think White was injured on draft day?

No, but he was injured very early on in the offseason workouts and didn't have surgery until 2 months later. White losing a full season could have been prevented.

Could they give him a look at tackle? Im not super happy with either tackle right now. He was Pff's highest rated tackle prospect at one point, iirc.
