So this thing is tonight. It probably won't start exactly at 7pm, probably a fair amount of player introductions and honors or something to begin it. No Cubs player is participating, which is okay.

Is there a way to limit voting in the poll by hours instead of days? Don't vote past the start of the contest, unless you really want to skew the results.

The rules:

• Single-elimination tournament in which the winner of each matchup advances and the loser of each matchup is eliminated.

• If the second batter hits more home runs than the first batter in any matchup, he will be declared the winner and not attempt to hit additional home runs.

• Four minutes per batter for each round. Clock starts with the release of the first pitch. In the first round and semifinals, each batter is entitled to one 45-second timeout. In the finals, each batter is entitled to two 45-second timeouts.

• Thirty seconds of bonus time will be awarded for two home runs that each equal or exceed 440 feet.

• Ties in any round will be broken by a 60-second swing-off with no stoppage of time or additional time added. If a tie remains after the swing-off, batters will engage in successive three-swing swing-offs until there is a winner.

I don't think there's a way to limit it by hours, but you or a mod should be able to come in at 7pm and edit the post to close the voting.

I usually only like this when there is cool horsefeathers to hit baseballs off of. The ware house in could be a decent target i guess.

Also, it's better when roids are involved. I miss roids

The smart money says Stanton, but I'm spending dumb money and going with Cano.

How many times has a player that didn't make the ASG participated in the derby? I know Choi did it the year they had that format where a each player represented a country but I can't remember it happening since then.

I was going to post clips of Sammy Sosa winning the 2000 Derby

Youtube doesn't have it.

Back when the HR Derby was fun. Or more likely it was fun because we were teenagers.
