Dexter Fowler went 0/2 with 2 BB and a K while DHing last night at South Bend and continues his rehab tonight, starting in CF.

Of our until recently, historically dominant starting pitching, Lester's the only one worthy of the benefit of the doubt that his last start was but an anomaly. If he implodes again, we could be looking at a rotation of Hendricks-Warren-Beeler-whatever spare parts Theo can scrape off the street while they frantically work on a trade or trades.

Are you referring to Gordo's tweet? He said no setback. I wouldn't read anything else into it. I just think taking a few extra days to rest instead of playing in an exhibition game is a smart move.

 

That said, I was just thinking this morning, I'm not looking forward to a post-Dexter world next year. Love that dude, and I'm bummed we'll never get to see the full lineup featuring him, our all star infield, Contreras and Schwarbs. Oh yeah Heyward too I guess.

I'm not saying I expect it, but I won't totally rule out Dexter coming back. He clearly loves his teammates and probably the organization and his situation. If he continues to perform it seems like a possible match.

So no setback. He's just being smart and not risking an injury in an exhibition game. because he values the entire second half of the season and doesn't want to risk it.

Hmmmm, I'm inclined to agree with you. But when somebody starts a rehab assigment and they are scheduled to play today and decided they can't, it's sort of a setback from the original plan.
