Tim, can you look into limiting the increasingly NSFW/bizarre banner ads on the site? How's a guy supposed to procrastinate in peace?

Anyone else experiencing this, or am I just watching too much porn

I'm not getting them.

And as mentioned upthread, it's really hard for me to control the ads that google serves.

I just realized that I'm not seein any ads on this site because I run an ad blocker, and how not cool that is around here. Sorry Tim, I've turned it off now.

Reminder to anyone running an ad blocker - keep it on for major sites, but not for places like this.

Any way for a user to block a thread from showing up on the "Active Topics" list? So if I don't want to see the "Dogs are awesome. Yay Dogs!" thread, for example, I could block it and not show up when I click on Active Topics.

On a side note, I probably didn't need to clarify the first statement.

Can you work on making this a message board for a different team?

Who would you want to root for, though? They all suck. Maybe Tampa for their creativity?

What kind of horsefeathering monster does not want to see a thread celebrating dogs? Better idea, give me the ability to perma-ban just 1 user...

Just an example. I find that thread mostly comical. Several others I would prefer not to see, but occasionally get tempted to click on. And then I’m disappointed I clicked on it.

Tim - I’m actually serious in my request, but don’t know that it’s possible and/or worth your time.

This reminded me of one of my favorite exchanges from Bojack

"Ignore! How do I ignore?!"

"I think with a beeper, you just...ignore it"

"With what, my mind?!"

I am genuinely confused.

For several weeks now I keep getting ads from Conservative Buzz with polls for “Is the media fair to Trump?” or “Are Dems trying to take your guns?”. I click that I’m not interested but it keeps showing up. Any way to make this go away?

I do. It comes back. I don’t know the source unless it’s clicking on some asshat’s tweets when someone is making fun of them.

Eh, just being in the politics thread can do it for me...since dumb tweets are constantly embedded there.

The other option is just to browse in private/incognito mode more often.

If it keeps coming back then they are actually meaning to target you. You've probably clicked on enough conservative things out of morbid curiosity that Google thinks you're actually conservative (or you share an IP with a staunch conservative?). Go to your Ad Settings in your Google account and remove anything related to conservative politics. That ought to do the trick, though it might take a few weeks.

It only happens on my I-phone, which only I use. The only possible thing I click on are tweets from somebody like Ben Shapiro, and that's ony one every couple of weeks. Definitely not any right wing sites or Fox News. Just weird. I'll take your advice though.
