Would they do something like send Edwards back down for Patton if Patton's/Concepcion's recent workload wouldn't have allowed them to pitch last night and Edwards could have?

Richard DFA makes sense but I am not sure the other move here. Wouldn't be a position player since they just swapped Dex and Edwards yesterday.

Possibilities:

Someone going on DL? Someone who hasn't seemed right lately like Warren?

Edwards going back down after 1 day?

DFA of someone else?

Trade??

I could see a made up DL stint for Warren to let him go work on things, I guess. Or get over maybe a minor thing bothering him as his stuff has seemed relatively fine I doubt it's anything major.

Warren to AAA to stretch out as a starter. Is there a double header coming up, or is Joe going to let the other starters get 5 days rest to keep them fresh

I don't know if its just his interpretation, but is there a possibility the Cubs go with a 6 man rotation to keep the top starters fresh going into the playoffs?

Richard to the DL with a blister wtf

A blister formed on the back of his neck from having to quickly turn his head repeatedly on the mound.

Maybe they're looking to keep the 'pen fresh since right now, they're getting a total of maybe a dozen innings a week. Figure Warren more often goes 5-6 IP and the rest of the pen has to pitch more.

Don't mind the move on Warren, I didn't think he had options left. But the 6 starters will be interesting if they truly do that. At the very least getting scheduled, longer work in AAA will hopefully at least get Warren right. I mentioned in a game thread recently Warren had something like a dozen starts in MLB last year at this time so maybe they figured to try and get him longer outings to make him right as a bullpen option at least in the 2nd half like he had been.

I am guessing Warren will get 1, or maybe 2 starts before coming up and possibly facing the Braves in the make up game before Pittsburgh series. He just went 2 innings with 51 pitches. That game is currently slated at Arrieta, but he could get an extra day of rest before facing the Pirates and then 3 off days before ASG. The Cubs are going to have at least 2 pitchers on the all star team and maybe 3.

Yeah. I really like the Warren move, mostly because he's sucked up here. But maybe he can figure things out with some more innings down there. And I wasn't aware he had options left, either. Let's get him right, without him being a detriment to the big league club.

this made my day.

however, can someone explain to why Concepcion is a better option than Felix Pena right now?
