He now has the lowest average exit velocity of 108 pitchers that have thrown at least 2,000 pitches this year.

83.9 mph this year. Last year he was tied with Lester for 4th at 85.8 mph.

I also looked at a bunch of the stuff I wrote about in an article about him last year, as far as him being a FIP-beater. Like how he got more weakly hit fly balls than other ground ball pitchers by getting them at higher launch angles. And how he avoided the dangerously hit ground balls that were hit hard and on a low line... one-hoppers scorched at infielders. And, well, he's still amazing at those things.

I can totally tell that you wanted to write a follow up article on last year's piece but then thought better of it and just made a post. Good work, you're learning :)

I'd love to see a Duke front-page article about how great Scherzer and Strasburg are.

After they beat the Dodgers, please.

So before the world series and after they eliminate their first round opponent the Cubs?

Hendricks throws like 45mph fastballs, so he could probably start every game of the post season, 1890's style

You do t want them to get too used to him; you have to mix it up.

Game 1: Hendrix

Game 2: Lester

Game 3: Hendrix

Game 4: arrieta (Hendrix first out of pen)

Here's a picture of Kyle being pulled out of game where he gave up 8 runs.

oh wait, that's him in the middle of one of the best games of his life.

Hendricks is trying out a new grip/version/type of curveball and the results sound promising.

Hendricks came into spring training with two things on his mind: developing more consistency throughout the season and improving his curveball. While playing catch with Mike Montgomery on Field 2, Hendricks, using a grip he’d never tried, spun a curve better than he’s ever been able to before

we regret to inform you that kyle hendricks is on the 15-day DL with elbow discomfort

Ummm, what does this mean?? 8-[

That the new grip that makes his curveball better, might be the type of thing that makes him more injured-er. Meant as a joke, im sure. A scary, scary joke.

The human elbow was not designed for the kind of torque that produces high spin rates.
