People are getting so starved for things to complain about they decided to be miserable for the majority of a 6-1 game. Ski and Rondon Fan were falling over themselves to try to be the first to declare the ballgame over, but it was not to be. What we got instead was 7 innings of 1-run baseball pitched by Lester and the offense scoring 6 of 12 base runners over 8 innings.

Next up we turn to NSBs favorite whipping boy, John Lackey, hoping that he can hold a historically bad offense at bay until a historically good offense gets going.

If the Cubs can just maintain this pace for the rest of the year, they will break the winning percentage record of the 1906 Cubs and finish with 125 wins.

So Arrieta, Lester, Lackey becomes Hammel, Hendricks, Arrieta for the Pittsburgh series. It's nice to have 5 pitches you are quasi confident about

Two postponements in a week makes me a sad Cub.

Avoiding Hendricks is smart, provided it's not too much on Lester and Arrieta this season (and Jake got an extra day this week too)

That Pirates lineup is nasty, 1-8 they all have OPS+ over 100. Polanco and Marte both turned a corner and are scary good right now. Weirdly their pitching like totally collapsed though, so some slugfests may be incoming.

Yeah plus an off day on Monday. 3 off days this week.

Yeah but their BABIP is ridiculous and unsustainable.

Marte has been pretty great for 3 years running now. Polanco I hadn't noticed. He's got a 12:16 K:BB ratio right now. That's nuts considering last year he ended with a ratio of 121:55. He's also the 6th best player by fWAR standards. but it's cool, Dex is still #1.
