You won't believe this, but Chesny Young is 2-2 tonight. He's now batting .400 on the season.

I have believed in Chesny young for some time now... He is my spirit animal... It feels me with joy that he continues to prove so many people wrong.

Hannemann is 3-4 with a BB and a SB. He's now at .271/.340/.494 on the year. His K% is at 13.8% and he's 10/10 on SB attempts.

Oh and Chesny Young is 4-5 tonight.

Chesney Young is 4-5 now and is batting .410. Just ridiculous.

Hannemann is also 3-4. OPS up to .834 with 10 SB

Jeez, does he have IBS or something?

Also, it's kind of funny that he left immediately after getting a hit, not at a half inning or whatever. Wonder if he horsefeathers himself running to first base.

Both Spencer Patton and Gerardo Concepcion stay at 0 ER for the season.

Patton: 9IP 0ER 16K/3BB

Concepcion: 12.1IP 0ER 10K/3BB

what kind of stuff does spencer patton have? his k rate coming into this season was north of 12 per 9 innings and he's struck out 16 in 9 innings this year.

From BA when Patton was traded to the Cubs:

Baseball America[/url]"]The Urbana, Ill., native, Patton, a 24th-round pick from Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 2011, was traded to the Rangers in 2014 while he was in Durham for the Triple-A all-star game, representing the Omaha Storm Chasers.

Patton throws a four-seamer that averages 93 mph and a slider at 83. One evaluator said Patton succeeds with deception over stuff and is just effective enough as a strike-thrower to perhaps be a useful middle reliever.

I actually prefer Markey being moved to the pen over Zastryzny, although frankly, it's not the biggest issue ... but the main reason being, I think there's a greater chance that Markey is more of an impactful pen arm than Zastryzny, and I don't really believe in either as starting pitchers. Iirc, I think Markey was able to ramp it up a bit out of the pen, so his fastball was more consistently in the mid-90's.

Was this Markey's day, though? Sorry, too lazy to check. If so, I'd probably wait a cycle and see what happens. Could just be an issue of timing, and Underwood is clearly ahead of everyone as a priority such that he would get the go-ahead.

That Markey news stinks. I was hopeful that he would have another good year. He was becoming interesting once I heard his velo was up in the mid-90s last year. I wonder what it's been at this year. He's certainly been much, much less effective. Oh well.

With the obvious note that college guns are inconsistent ... Markey's velocity had hit mid-90's in college as well, but he could never stick there. When you factor in his size, or lack thereof, I really do think he's better off in the pen tying to ramp it up. Could envision his fastball/breaking ball and overall command being solid enough to possibly develop into a late inning type of arm (of course, you could say that about a number of guys ... ).
