trading bickell opened the door for the possibility, but it was still unlikely that shaw stayed. they pretty much had to dump bickell just to put a full team on the ice.

It's been reported that prior to official cap number they had a deal but after $73 was confirmed the deal died.

I think Campbell would be great for the Hawks on a 2 yr deal. He is still a good second pairing dman. Plus I think he is at the point of his career where winning might allow the Hawks to get him at a discount.

Campbell has a really good season followed by 2-3 poor ones. He's coming off one of his best seasons, so I bet he tanks at least this next year

I probably watched more Florida games last yr than the previous 3 yrs combined, so I am not going to disagree too much, but his recent stats seem rather steady.

My Blues fan Facebook friends are absolutely losing their minds about the Elliott trade. Can't believe they're trade the best goalie in hockey for only draft picks.

Sign me up for one year of Campbell on a hometown discount. With so much uncertainty around future salary cap levels, would like to have as much money freed up next year (when Panarin is due a long term contract) as possible.

 

This has been a pretty depressing offseason, but the Shaw trade was the right move. Shore up the defense and hope a couple of the forward prospects can step up on the bottom six.

Welcome to the expansion draft. Next offseason, teams will only be able to protect one goalie. That is putting pressure on teams with multiple goalies to move one now or risk losing them for nothing.

 

Blackhawks fans, I really, really loved your first draft pick this year. I'm fairly familiar with DeBrincat, being a prospect nerd who watches a lot of OHL hockey. He's been RIDICULOUSLY productive in Erie. Size is the obvious knock, but he should be fine in the modern NHL. I had him rated as a top 20 prospect this year.

They still have Jake Gallon. Wait until the Blues don't re sign Backes and Brouwer, that ought to be fun.

 

Much as I like Shaw, I'm glad someone else will give him the money that he'll wind up getting. This reminds me a lot of when they traded Ben Smith. He was a fan favorite and a versatile player but he wasn't irreplaceable.

How is the hell is Rozival still on this team? Mashinter I can kind of be ok with because hes only 27 and a depth 'in case of emergency' piece. But Rozival is old and is likely only going to sign unless he is going to play at least somewhat. Otherwise he'd just retire and we can forget he ever existed.

Roszival only made $650K last year. The Hawks could stash his entire salary in Rock Vegas with no effect on the cap. Mashinter is completely useless.
