hey, joe sheehan, the astros would've been a much better team to use the plexiglas principle on

and it seems like he was almost trying to get ahead of it since he's already so wrong on the cubs/plexiglas thing by going on the score and talking about half the league tanking skewing the mlb landscape

Yeah, the Pirates and Cards are both going to be among the best teams in baseball again. It will be much sweeter if we are sitting up on top of them all year, though.

since we'll be

plesac talking up the horsefeathering mets and saying they're the 2nd best team in the NL and the cubs won't be running away from them. horsefeathers the mets.

it's almost to the point that i want the cardinals to get one of the wild cards over the mets

well, yeah, that'd be ideal, even if we have to hear about the even year crap if the pirates lose the WC game yet again (wow, that'd be sad)

Aledmys Diaz just hit one to the moon to up his OPS to roughly a million

not bad for a #8 hitter

Phillies have gotten themselves a couple really nice young pitchers, we'll see.

It's silly I'm doing this this early in the season but I'm peaking at Cardinals games like "ooh Diamondbacks up 2-0 on Michael Wacha, would be nice to pick up a game on them today..."

You do this because it's possible we clinch before the end of July.

The Phillies beat Dusty Baker's Nationals again.

Are the Phillies not terrible this season?

I think their terribleness has been highly overstated.

The Phillies have not actually been good (the past 3 days were ok). Statistically, they have been about the same as the Braves, but the Braves have been getting unfortunate Pythagorean luck against a tough schedule, while the Phillies have been getting fortunate Pythagorean luck against an easy schedule.

With the Cards starting a series with the Nationals, I think I can be happy with any outcome...especially since we're already 5 games up on the Cardinals in the L column.

I was getting annoyed for that like day when the Nationals had a better record than us.

Oh I was not saying they're good...please don't misunderstand. Just saying that haven't been brutal.

some guy named adam conley (marlins) has a no hitter in the 8th inning against the brewers. but he's walked 4 guys and is on 116 pitches, so mattingly is pulling him with 4 outs left to get the no-no. seems prudent.

Amsinger and HR are freaking out because King Felix was pulled after 115 pitches because "he makes $175 million"

Co-dependent, meatball enablers, the two of them.
