love Wes as much as anyone, but this is not ideal, especially considering he wasn’t in their plans to start the season.

Juventus needs a better coach.

Only 8 teams have a longer unbeaten run in all competitions than Leverkusen's current streak of 40 games.

really only two of those play in the top leagues though benfica, rangers, and ajax may include european games

Looks like all three did have European games in there. I’d still dismiss Rangers though because the Scottish league isn’t on the level of Holland or Portugal.

Yep. Hoping the Hammers can knock them out but that’s only because if either Arsenal or West Ham advance, it will almost guarantee England’s 5th place team gets a UCL spot next year. And I don’t particularly want to root for Arsenal.

Spurs look poised for 4th - and also best placed team to decide the title - which, now that I think about it, may make them less likely to finish fourth

They both had pretty similar schedules down the stretch. In the last 10 games, both teams play the three title challengers and Chelsea. Spurs also get at Newcastle. Spurs do get Burnley and Sheffield in the last two games, and both could be regelated by then. But it wouldn’t be too shocking for them to get like 2 points out of Liv/Ars/City/Che/New, especially with the last two being on the road. Stamford Bridge is a house of horrors for Spurs even when they’re good and Chelsea isn’t.

So, here's a philosophical question, if they avoid a loss today, Leverkusen can then win the Bundesliga Sunday (or Saturday if Bayern fails to beat Cologne). Would Alonso then rest players in the Bundesliga? You have to think you prioritize the trophies and player health over the unbeaten run, right?

They haven't had to compromise between domestic and continental so far, and an invincible season is pretty special, so I think they'd probably go for it.  Assuming they clinch this weekend, they'd have Dortmund on the road after the 2nd leg.  But there wouldn't be another Europa league game for 2 weeks so you could push it that week and then rest more leading up to the next league game(Stuttgart at home).  The trickiest would be the league game in between the Europa semis, at Bochum.  The Pokal and Europa finals are both after the Bundesliga season ends so they wouldn't be in conflict unless you wanted to give more than normal rest for them.

42 now. Those are two tough games (Dortmund and Stuttgart). Surprised how defensive West Ham was - I don't see them over-turning 2 goals even at home.

Shocker at Anfield . . .

That was not ideal. Liverpool is good enough to overturn that but I certainly can’t count on it.

Go Arsenal next Wednesday I guess since I have a hard time seeing West Ham moving on as well.

Bayern is likely to sit all their top players this weekend and put all their chips in that game. I'm not too confident in Arsenal frankly, especially on the road.

Also, Paqueta and Emerson both suspended for West Ham (Paqueta should have been sent off today),

horsefeathers will probably have one of their “You’ll Never Walk Alone” performances next week and belt Atalanta 6-0.

I hear that Arsenal’s owners are about to turn the club into a brewery with the amount of bottling they’ve done the last 2 seasons.

It was just a formality today but good for Leverkusen getting their first Bundesliga title.

They’re also at 43 straight unbeaten, tied with Juve for the longest in a major league. However Juve wasn’t in any European competition that year so their run was solely league and Copa Italia.
