Sargent with a brace today for Norwich, trying to make the starting striker position a difficult choice.

Is he even relevant at this point? I mean, I guess if he just goes off . . . the other candidates seem to have all gone backwards.

I think I have him 3rd in the pecking order now behind Ferreira and Pefok, with Pepi falling fast.

Yeah, if Pepi can't get minutes at Augsburg, he should be in danger of missing out on Qatar. Pefok doesn't seem to offer much other than being an aerial target at the international level, so Sargent - if he keeps scoring - should have a shot at making the roster at least.

I think the September window will be pretty telling. Sargent stands a better chance than the average pop up player given his position and past experience with the National Team, but at the same time he hasn't been called in since the first WCQ window, where he got 125 minutes with no production(the US had a 0-1 scoreline with him on the field, 5-1 in the 150 mins without). Pepi didn't light the world on fire with his WCQ time either so I wouldn't be at all surprised, but if there's been enough tactical evolution since Sargent was last with the team, I wouldn't be surprised if Pepi gets taken over him if there's even a shred of playing time/form on Pepi's end.

I am of the opinion that Ferreira is the only lock.

For whatever that’s worth. I’m very happy he seems to be gaining some traction because he’s certainly a player with value beyond this World Cup.

Alright. Everyone light a candle, burn some sage, etc. Gio is on a soccer pitch again.

Dortmund was...not great...when Gio was out there but it was mostly in the back third, just completely fell apart.

well, that's an interesting result. Liverpool apparently intent to let City get far out in front again. 2 points from their first three matches . . .

Well I’m pretty happy with Spurs’s UCL draw getting Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting and Marseille. I’m not going to say they should win their group but I’ll be a little disappointed if they don’t. Of course the last time I was really happy with their draw was 2016 and they finished 3rd in their group that year.

Group C is the toughest group with Bayern, Barcelona and Inter.

Group A is no picnic either but that was always going to be the case where Liverpool dropped. I guess it could be much worse. Spurs and Chelsea both in favorable groups.

Yeah, let's all show some sympathy for Victoria Pilzen.

god almighty leeds is fun

Especially home games. They cheer Tyler Adams tackles like goals. Its incredible how well Jesse’s system fits that club and their fans. Cocaine soccer without Bielsa.

Worst GD in a group stage is -22 and most goals allowed in a group stage is 24. With that group, both of those are in play. I wouldn’t put it past Bauer putting up 10-12 by themselves.
