Jurgen is attending a state dinner in Germany tomorrow with Merkel & Obama. Sunil is still President of USSF. He'll step down after '18, but that's it. I'd be shocked to see him fired, ever.

Jurgen isn't going to that state dinner. It starts in like 30 minutes and he's still in NY.

ETA: unless i'm just completely wrong.

Man Leicester are so screwed in the league.

They probably should have invested more money in improving their defense instead of buying two strikers and a winger.

When they sold Kante they should have sold Mahrez as well. Gray is a really good player and should be playing every week. Take the Mahrez money and buy a good CB as it was always unlikely that Morgan and Huth replicate that success.

Klinsy out!

Holy horsefeathers. Can't believe it actually happened. Was just coming here to post his quotes about how people who criticize him don't understand soccer.

Hahahaha klinsmann I didn't even know until I saw my phone hahahahaha.

Seriously the first bit of good news in like 2 weeks. I hope he was fired in the most humiliating way possible

Have we cap-tied every important dual-national in the pipeline?

Cameron Carter-Vickers was in camp for these last two games but hasn't been cap-tied yet. Considering he's an English dual national instead of German like so many others have been(Jones, Green, Zelalem) and that he's right on the cusp of playing time at the moment, I don't think Klinsmann getting fired makes a huge difference. I'm not an expert though, so maybe others have more context.

Lynden Gooch just got cap-tied this past week, so from a search it looks like the next best option that isn't cap-tied would be Mexican dual national defender Villafana? Again, I'm not the most knowledgeable at this world so maybe there's others I'm missing.

Re: dual nationals

Nike, Adidas, the player's agent and Culture have way more to do with dual nationals committing than a squirrely, ego-maniacal German head coach.

CCV and Tillman are the two remaining good prospects that aren't cap tied but not having a tire fire of a NT is probably as important a selling point to these guys than simply Jurgen being the coach.

If Tim Chandler and Aron Johansson want to protest the firing by retiring from international play, though, I would reluctantly accept that.

LD had 9 goals and 8 assists in his last 10 NT games.

LD has had a front row seat to Jurgen's downfall twice now and as fun as it would be to see him flame emoji Juergen to death, at some point he probably just decided to shake his head and move on.

Get a load of Jurgen Trump.

http://www.espnfc.us/team/united-states/660/blog/post/3001445/jurgen-klinsmanns-excuses-the-final-straw-for-us-soccer-chiefs

Klinsmann explained away the losses in public. In private, his excuses were even more bold; he told Gulati that he was convinced that the Gold Cup was fixed so Mexico would win, setting up the big-money playoff match against the U.S., a viewpoint that exasperated his boss.

ESPN & CONCACAF rigging tournaments for ratings! Sad!

Crooked Sunil fired him, yes, but this kind of horsefeathers drives me crazy:

It was around then that rumors began circulating that the USSF was prepared to jettison Klinsmann if the U.S. lost its last match of 2015, a year-ending qualifier on the road against Trinidad and Tobago. With Gulati in attendance in Port of Spain, the Americans managed a scoreless tie, and Klinsmann kept his job.

This kind of arbitrary, make-or-break referendum should not be the reason anyone in any industry keeps or loses their job. The manager in charge of any employee should be able to know whether or not they are employing the right person regardless of individual results. Failure to see and move on the big picture in a timely fashion is what sets programs/initiatives/companies/governments back for years and sometimes generations.

Yes, this. How does getting a result from a match against T&T all the sudden mean he's the man for the job? Either he's the right man or he's not. He should have known it by then. The only logic to his reasoning is that he really did not want to bring in a new coach during the qualifying cycle unless it was clear that the team was in danger of not qualifying with Klinsmann at the helm. And even then, if Arena is an acceptable stopgap option now, then he was in December 2015 as well.
