This is cool as hell:

It's so dumb that Florida inexplicably has 2 baseball teams and PR has none.

Let’s play more April games in San Juan

Hell yea.

At this point, let's just have all the April Cubs games played down there. Give us an in with all the prospects growing up there, give Wrigley another month to get ready so they aren't rushing construction up until the last minute, and let the dongs commence early. If we can sell out Spring Training games in March, we can get a bunch of Cubs fans down to PR in April.

(Kidding. Mostly.)

Edit: re putting an MLB team in PR.

I expect MLB to take a really long hard look at Latin America on the next expansion go around.

Manfred has all but admitted that baseball will be expanding after Oakland and Tampa get their stadium issues worked out. One of the expansion teams will go to Montreal, but there’s a real question of where the second one should go. It’s not like the 90s when Miami, Denver and Phoenix didn’t have teams. There’s a real question as to why anyone would want to pay the franchise fee to put a team in Charlotte, San Antonio, Portland, etc. Basically signing up to be another Cincinnati or Kansas City.

I don’t see them ever putting a team in Latin America anywhere. Just series here and here. I could see Vegas as a favorite. Also a group in Portland just bought two pieces of land that could be used for a future MLB stadium

I know Chatwood has walked like half of the batters he's faced, but Alex Cobb has given up 20 hits in 7 innings and has a 15.43 ERA in his first two starts.

Yeah, give me the guy who is still doing some things well and has the premium stuff and is suppressing contact and hope he gets the BB down to about 4 per 9 over the guy who just might have lost it a bit and is going to get hit hard and will have to depend on luck/defense/sequencing to be good.

Something in the air in Baltimore? Chris Tillman was never an ace, but he put up decent numbers for a few years and now it seems like he's dead. Since the beginning of last season, he's 1-10 with an 8.28 ERA. In 106.1 IP, he's allowed 147 hits, walked 61, struck out just 66, and has allowed 26 HR.

Or are the O's just spending money on guys who lost their velocity and can't locate pitches at all?

I completely agree. I don't ever see an MLB expansion team playing somewhere in Latin America. I could see Portland and San Antonio/Austin as expansion cities. Maybe Charlotte.

I think with expansion will come re-alignment and 4 divisions in each league and 6 playoff teams (4 divisions winners and 2 WCs). I'm assuming the division winners with the 2 best records get byes in the first round in this scenario.

Everywhere else they could expand to in the US would be trash and dumb (ANOTHER horsefeathering Texas team? Jesus Christ). Edited by Sammy Sofa

Looking at the plate discipline leaderboard and was very surprised to see Bryce Harper is making more contact than only 8 other players in baseball. A full 11 point drop from his career rate. Yet he's still mashing as well as ever.

Portland should have a team. I don't care where else they put one, as long as its not Vegas anytime while KB and Harper are close to FA

I wouldn't be mad at mid to late 30s twilight of their careers each with 5-10 Cubs rings Harper and Bryant signing with a Vegas team for the inaugural season.

After we pay them over a combined billion+ dollars the next decade they can just go buy a team to put there as part of expansion or relocation after they retire.

I was surprised to see Harper making 65% contact

You seem to have some kind of problem with me. Every time you reply it's some sarcastic trying to be a cool guy bs. Put me on ignore.

What you said was nonsense, so I made fun of you. It's not personal, I have no opinion about you one way or the other

What is nonsense about it? You're not surprised by Harper making significantly less contact than Javy Baez, and having the 9th worst rate in the Majors, when carrying a career rate 10 points higher?
