Yeah. Dustin May looks crazy impressive so far.

 

I posted some sick Tyler Glasnow gifs a little while ago and I love watching all these clips. I think it all took off with Yu Darvish and overlays of his pitches synced up a few years back. We really should just create a PitchingNinja Thread at this point.

Remember how the White Sox traded Tatis Jr for James Shields? They give Cubs fans crap for trading Eloy to them for Q, but at least Q was pretty good in 17 and has been at least ok ever since (even if not living up to expectations). They gave up a guy who looks like an absolute superstar in the making for James Shields to put up this line:

 

2016: 22 starts, 6.77 ERA/6.93 FIP, -1.9 bWAR

2017: 21, 5.13/5.83, 0.3

2018: 33, 4.53/5.09, 1.6

 

all while paying $21 million/year

Zach Binney, an epidemiologist at Oxford College of Emory University, suggested that even a minor delay to begin the playoffs could help. A three-day quarantine could be put in place at the end of the regular season, outside or inside the team’s postseason locale, with no contact between teams. A four-day period of games with extra care could follow, including careful masking.

 

“Thereafter, consider bubble established and proceed a la the NBA or NHL is right now,” Binney said.

 

Whether you want to call it a controlled environment or a bubble, it's really important that MLB setup a proper system for the playoffs now where players can be monitored. The NBA bubble in Orlando is actually doing really well and Adam Silver has done the best job of any sports commissioner IMO.

 

MLB and Rob Manfred need to follow their example and start working on this now.

Marcus Stroman opts out

Was he even going to pitch this year with the injury? What a terrible trade by the Mets. Will be interesting to see what Stroman gets this offseason, I’d completely stay away unless it’s a 1 year deal. Never been a big fan of his stuff/profile, especially if he’s viewed as TOR type and now has had injuries 2 of the last 3 years.
