I would think the conversation starts at 2015 first round pick Kaprellian.

And have him play in the Yankees system until July?

I just refuse to believe the Cubs are interested in Gardener.

NY media says it isn't Gardner.

That rule got changed, didn't it?

I must have missed that one.

Starting this year, draft picks from the most recent draft can be traded following the World Series.

I wonder if there could be 3rd team involved in this because on the surface there don't seem to be a lot of fits with just us and the Yankees unless it's a strict salary dump.

There's also a lot of speculation on Cubs twitter that this is purely an unloading move to make room for Zobrist+. I just have a hard time seeing Theo+Co sell low on Castro just to open up space. Seems really unlike them.

I doubt it's Miller. They were supposedly shopping Miller to get a young arm.

It wouldn't surprise me

a) If nothing came of this ...

but

b) if this is some sort of, as Tim noted, Castro for Nova and low level lottery ticket (or 2) prospect type deal. Wouldn't really be interested in that, but I don't know if I buy Miller in this unless the deal gets expanded, and I can't see the Yankees giving up too much quality to get Castro right now unless they have completely soured on their MI options that much. (in short, as davell notes, a possible salary dump)

For what it’s worth #Cubs have been curious about Adam Warren. Think #Yankees value Warren highly for versatility/skill/low salary

That would be a really interesting move. Clears salary, adds another guy who has proven to be good rotation depth.

That's a move I can get behind.

Castro for Warren + Sanchez tied to Montero to Rangers for Tolleson (or other young relief pitcher)? Free up lots of money for Zobrist or Heyward/Gordon/Upton.

This whole Castro zobrist thing really depends on what we get back for starlin for me

Agreed and also if we still have enough money to at least bring back Fowler, if not make a run at Heyward.

What do you think he's worth? I know you're not exactly high on him.

I'm not exactly low on him either

I figured he was worth more to us next year than he could actually bring back in a trade, so I really have no idea.

I thought you were pretty down on him. My bad.

I've got to say, I wasn't huge on the idea of adding Zobrist, assuming it meant that we would then be out on Heyward. And, I would still love to have both. Add both of them and I'm just gaga over this offense. My preference is clearly and unequivocally to throw all of our money at Heyward, though. And, Zobrist scares me on a four-year deal.

However, when taken as a whole -- signing Zobrist and trading Castro for young guys or pitching depth -- you are essentially throwing money around to upgrade from Starlin to a guy who fits our organizational philosophy much more (versatile, takes walks) and adding depth in one way or another, with our return for Starlin. It makes sense and might just be the best use of our resources. This takes care of a couple of things in one fell swoop.

I was in August.

I don't particularly like him, but he showed enough since that I don't just out and out want him off the team anymore.
