Cobb would be okay as a depth addition. Don't love the idea of him and McGee for Baez, wish we could get a pitcher with a little more upside (Odorizzi). But I'd be okay I guess with Cobb/McGee.

is odorizzi's upside really any higher?

No. I think he's mixing up the two.

I think a little bit, he's about 2.5 years younger, Ks guys at a little bit better rate, plus he throws a cutter so young know Bosio magic (Brewers also drafted Odorizzi when Bosio was there, I believe). I guess ultimately they are about the same, between the two there could be a little more to tap into with Odorizzi. Also, isn't Cobb hurt or has been hurt?

Will Cobb be ready for the start of the 2016 season?

I still think Moore would be a good buy. He was almost an unparalleled prospect

about that...

#42 and #89 amuse me.

Brett Jackson 15 spots ahead of Anthony Rizzo. Javier Baez and Matt Szczur 3 spots apart.

We should show the A's and Rays this list, we should be able to snag one of Gray or Archer for Szczur.

I don't think so. I don't think he had it until the middle of May or so.

Yeah, it was in May. I hadn't seen anything about his rehab so I wasn't sure. I'm not too enthused about trading Baez for a guy coming off TJS who might miss a month or two of the regular season (and might be on an innings limit too). Not the type of trade I'd make for a win-now team.

yeah, i didn't realize when he had the TJS. less enthused about him, especially since he'd probably need that recovery year (or at least several starts of that).

If Baez is going to be traded for pitching I want Archer or no deal.

They can add other minor pieces as well.

Baez would have to be the minor piece if you want Archer.

Still ridiculous.

Archer, much like Fernandez, will not be traded unless the return is insane. Not only is he really good, but his contract is amazing for the Rays ($41mm until 2021).

Even if you're inexplicably talking about some previously unknown third Baez in the Cubs system who was secretly amazing, you could add in the two actual Baezes and you'd still have a scenario where the Rays laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.

Why would the Rays trade Snell? Do they really have THAT much pitching and lack hitting that much? I'd gladly take him AND someone else for Baez, but not sure what their incentive would be to make a deal. Anybody more familiar with that roster?

They've had a long time hole of some sorts at SS. They just acquired Miller, but I think the plan is to use him as a Zobrist type. Their rotation is Archer/Odorizzi/Smyly/Moore/Ramirez/Cobb already. And they'd still have Guerrieri too. If they believe in Javy, I could definitely see Snell being on the table, given their pitching depth.

Archer,Moore,Cobb,Odorizzi,Smyly,Karns,Colome,Erasmo and Snell are all candidates for the rotation this year. They surely don't need to be 9 SP deep.

I meant the Rays could throw in the minor parts.

But really I was not serious. I'm not that high on Baez, but I do not want him traded for a bullpen arm.

I'm probably one of the very few who prefer Cobb the most. Just love that dude. I get the TJS concerns, though.

When healthy he's the 2nd best pitcher we've been linked to, behind only Carassco.

Cobb only has two more years of control and won't be ready for the start of the season (plus the potential for the first-year-after-TJ-struggles). I don't love Baez, but that's a deal you can't make.
