I still want Marcell Ozuna. Not sure what it'll take to get him, but the Marlins don't seem to like him very much. If the Cubs go after Heyward or Gordon (and trade Soler), then Ozuna could be a nice cheap option without much pressure to perform in a loaded lineup. The upside he provides is huge if he puts it together, but he also allows you a guy to mix and match with to get Baez in the lineup, if he's still around.

 

If I recall correctly, they were trying to get Taijuan Walker from SEA for Ozuna and didn't think Paxton was enough. That's a very high price tag.

They can ask for the sky, but if enough teams reject them they might settle for something more reasonable.

Oh got it, don't really want him on a 4 year deal. Especially because he isn't that great of a defensive player in CF, I'd rather do Span on a 1 year deal if we were going for cheaper options than Fowler/Heyward/Trade for Ozuna

Gordo brought up Gomez today, which is interesting. If we miss on Heyward, why would he be available? Marisnick isn't horrible, but I'd take Gomez in a heartbeat.

He can't play CF normally, let alone CF where he has to make up ground for Soler and Schwarber.

Can't imagine he's a guy the front office wants. His walk rate has never been good and has gone down each season and he strikes out a decent amount. Thinking they are hoping to add a different type player to the lineup. Like another Zobrist.

Yeah. I mean, if that means we sign Heyward, then yeah, Ozuna/Heyward CF/RF I can live with. But I'd prefer either Heyward/Soler CF/RF or free agent/Heyward CF/RF with Soler packaged for one of those high upside arms.

 

I still kinda believe that this FO plans for Almora to be up this year or next, so I realize that that wishful thinking clouds my judgement.
