Who gives a [expletive] about the regular season? This team along with the 2008 team tore the regular season to [expletive] and both ended with the team forgetting how to hit and pitch. There's zero satisfaction in going out like this regardless of how regular season wins they had

So wait, he gets hit but strikes out anyways because the umpire wrongly said he swung?

We have played terrible but the umps haven't made it any better

#1 priority next season is to get a quality SP. Hammel can't be on this team next season he's been awful for the entire 2nd half.

find a way to break a curse, do whatever you have to. this team is capable of winning a world series.

hey, remember in 2003 when we hadn't lost 3 in a row all year until the nlcs, just when we were about to make it to the series? anybody remember 1984? they can't get there, it cannot be explained.

I think that they've only been to the NLCS 3 times in the 46 years it's existed kinda explains it pretty well.

Yeah, that might have something to do with it.

Beating the Cards was pretty cool

Just have to believe that these things are crap shoots and we just need to make the playoffs every damn year to breakthrough

That logically makes no sense considering the other baseball rules (i.e. if strike 3 is a wild pitch, you have to throw to first).

They've mailed it in. Fans deserve better.

Absolute poppycock.

You really believe this is the best the Cubs can do?

I mean... a lot of it is [expletive] luck and poor timing. But I also believe they're putting their heads down when the going's gone tough instead of saying '[expletive] this [expletive], we can do better.' Just look at the Royals this year and last.

None of this is quantifiable, but I believe mindset is huge and does make a difference. Not the only thing that matters, mind you, but as bad as we've looked this series, you can't say this is the best we've got.

God do you really believe this? Maddon is like the best manager in baseball at making sure the players are in the best mindset possible.

Partially. I believe that they've had a very good mindset the entire year, which has lead to them playing very well overall. I also believe this series has been incredibly stressful and high-stakes for the players and good coaching can only go so far to combat the default mindset of the players.

I'm not saying mindset is everything, but you can't deny it's a factor. All we can do is speculate. It's possible the team got rattled by a shitty game one and couldn't pick themselves back up. It could be us running into a Mets team playing out of their mind. It could be the bats going suddenly cold. It's probably a mix of the above.

TBS should put Inside the NBA team in the booth next year. Shaq and Barkley can't be worse than Ripken and Darling

I'd take Steven A Smith and Hawk Harelson even.

That combo actually sounds pretty [expletive] awesome

I swear to [expletive] God if this person on my timeline doesn't knock this [expletive] off when he doesn't even [expletive] follow baseball I'm going to hunt him down and kick him in the [expletive] face

Just block the [expletive].
