normally i'd say ride the butters wave, but an 8 game winning streak gives me pause as far as not letting OMC do his thing

So who starts the Wild Card thread and how soon can we get it posted?

We're riding the Butters wave

this appears to still be up in the air and we are waiting on grandpa fred to confirm the plan of attack.

I dunno man, the starters thread has you listed for Wed specifically with OMC in the hold after SSR. GO POST IT.

So, do I bite the bullet and buy the SRO tickets for $64 at Busch Friday night and just have faith in Jake?

worst case you can resell them, so why the hell not

Wow only $64 to get in the door? Shows you how spoiled the Cardinals are. I bet you don't get in the door at Wrigley for under $200

i bought a $50 SRO ticket last sunday in anticipation for this friday's game. figure if the worst case scenario happens i can find a cards fan friend to sell it to to get my money back

right but i deferred to OMC a few pages ago. i'm fine with riding the hot hand, but i'll start it if it's determined that's what we want to do as well

I'm waiting to hear back from SSR. If he defers also, then well continue with OMC's run. Otherwise, we'll go with the W/L records.

In the meantime, if you hear people like ct or arcubfan telling you what to do.... well, just consider the source.

Thanx,

Fred

im going it alone (have a friend that lives in STL that i'll stay with but he covers the cards so he'll be working). gonna enjoy walking around the stadium, drinking some beer and getting yelled at by the BFIBs

Do we have any idea what time the game will be on Friday in STL?

The chances of it being in prime time, especially if we're in it, are probably somewhere between 99.5 and 100 percent. But nothing is official.

Nope but all 4 series have games on that day.

I'm guessing Blue Jays/Rangers will be in the afternoon, and Dodgers/Mets will be the last game (only game played west of the Central time zone). So that would leave Royals/WC and Cubs/Cardinals to fill the late afternoon and Primetime slots. If the Astros win the WC game you can bet the Cubs will be the prime time game. If the Yankees win, I still think it would be Cubs/Cards but there's a chance the draw of NYC market pushes that to primetime.

Another consideration, since AL and NL are on different networks, does that mean at least 1 AL game has to be in the later 2 games? That would change everything

Again, my only hesitation is that Dodgers/Mets in LA is almost certainly the late game. So if MLB wants Fox to get an AL game in the later 2 games then it might have no choice but to put Cubs/Cards around 4pm

One more thing: on this schedule http://m.mlb.com/postseason-schedule they do not list game times but they way the schedule is ordered does seem kind of random, it has WC/Royals listed at the top then WC/STL, NYM/LAD and then TOR/TEX last. But that doesn't make any sense to have the latest game by the only game played in the Eastern Time Zone.

Ok I'm thinking about this way too much

Posted
I'd be missing the end of game 1 regardless of when it starts because work, but if it starts at 4 I'd see most of it. I suppose that's not the worst thing
Posted
Yeah, I'm thinking this game gets stuck in the 2nd time slot because of the late game in LA and the different networks. Which sucks, because that's about the only time slot all day that won't work for me to be able to go.

I tweeted Len about it and haven't heard anything.

Here's all of them since 1989 though.

Well, all of the ones they could find for the article; they only link to/talk about four of them.

If it weren't for the fact that it's too far to drive there and back in one day (plus I wouldn't be able to do much if that drink beer thing) therefore necessitating hotel expenses too, I'd totally do the same.
