aren't the Cubs like worst in MLB in stranding runners in scoring position or something? I thought they mentioned that on the ESPN broadcast.

They are definitely the worst at bringing home runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs

Kyle Hendricks has been less than stellar in the second half. I know he's working through some stuff, but I don't have much confidence in him right now.

His xFIP is actually lower in the second half.

They're the worst team driving in runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs. But every team is the same I've been told.

and yet somehow they've got like the 6th highest wOBA in baseball in the second half and 7th or something in runs in that span, so WHO THE [expletive] CARES?

yes, the contact issues cause us to fail to make contact often which causes us not to get runs in with runners on 3rd often, particularly given our plate approach (which leads to a lot of K's and walks), but it also causes us to have baserunners and hit for extra bases and dongs and score runs so yeah you take the good with the bad Edited by David

Because the Cubs have been unclutch the last week and our contact woes have been magnified. People like to complain about that.

Schwarber has been striking out a bunch it seems like. Not particularly concerning, but would be nice if he got red hot again.

Cy Morton.

Dude...he's given up three runs in four innings so far.

That's about the only metric that has been better in the second half.

He's allowing more baserunners (he's walking more guys, in particular) in the second half, and that has not served him well. His command is clearly not what it was in the first half.

But he struck out a good batter! That puts him on the same tier as Kershaw!

Hendricks pulled for Richard. Can't say I love this move with an already overworked bullpen. We already got the split, no need to go into playoff mode for a 3rd consecutive day.

Apparently Coomer thinks watching Schwarber strike out is the funniest thing ever.

Listening to him try to be a radio broadcaster actually is. Or, trying to determine what is going on in the game is like a radio version of "Where's Waldo".

i mean that can't be true given that it's kind of a comprehensive stat based on other peripherals

i have a newfound appreciation for his play by play acumen after listening to grote attempt it last night

We have a 13 man bullpen, it is literally impossible for it to be overworked. Especially for long relief/middle innings guys.

I don't love that Hendricks is struggling, but as regular-season games go, this one's pretty important as it could set us up to potentially surpass the Pirates next weekend. If Joe wants to go for it, with expanded rosters, let's do it.

He will probably suck it up, but I really like Richard as a starter. I may have it wrong but don't the Pirates absolutely suck vs. lefties?
