[expletive] these guys, they're blowing it. Arrieta and Lester are only going to start 6 more games. Even if they go 6-0 in those games, they'll have to win 2-3 more. Hard to see where they will come from with this [expletive] bullpen.

Is this a serious post?

Oh no the Cubs lost a 1 run game where they threw Hammel against Gerrit Cole, time to find ways to extrapolate what terrible things this portends for the future.

I can't tell if this is a serious post or a joke

Seriously, I can't tell. And I don't even know where to begin if it is.

Part of me wants these guys to pass the cardinals.

I want them to pass STL, and I want us to too. Unfortunately it seems ridiculously unlikely both can happen since we play Pittsburgh so much.

How many times have we played this game the past couple weeks? We come back from a deficit and then find a way to blow it.

...At least one other time that I can think of. At least.

Last two games against the Phillies and now this one. Before that, there was the finale against the Reds. That's probably the most frustrating thing about this is the way they've lost the last three games.

Just win tonight and quell the people who are panicking.

It's a joke.

But I am seriously starting to struggle to see where the Cubs beat anyone in a playoff series unless Lester and Arrieta can start more than 50% of the games.

So people are so afraid of playing one game in Pittsburgh that they would rather play three there?

That's what confuses me. I think the Pirates are probably a better team than St. Louis, so I'd rather try to knock them out at once with Arrieta and deal with St. Louis in a longer series. Especially since the St. Louis SP are pretty interchangeable. Facing St. Louis in the Wild Card does maximize the odds of *getting to* the NLDS though, so maybe people just want to get there and let the cards fall as they may.

I have some good news for you then.

Bingo. You neutralize the whole "Pittsburgh is better than St. Louis" thing by only facing them once, and with Arrieta on the mound. Get me that match-up for one game over five with them.

It just sucks that these loses aren't coming from us being outplayed, but from us giving away the [expletive] game. It happened twice over the Phillies series and it's happening again tonight.

How did they "give away the game?" They only held a lead for half of the first inning.
