Never want to see KB hurt, but he's been pretty awful. It's not like we'd be losing our hottest hitter

He's still taking his walks and providing pop. Not that Olt/Baez can't do the same, but... It would suck.

Who knows, maybe Olt can come up and do his best Bryan LaHair impression while Bryant gets a few weeks off. I'd just like to know sooner than later if the situation calls for any long term panic.

Cubs miss Cole and Bumgarner this week, and have Lester and Arrieta going in both series.

When was the last week this big for the team? Would any week in 2009 qualify or does it go back to the 08 playoffs?

Good question. I remember there was a week in 2009 we tied for first in early August and then faced the Phillies and got destroyed effectively ending out playoff hopes. It's gotta be 2008

The 4 game series in Milwaukee in 08' is what comes to mind for me

Riggleman was the only decent Cubs manager of my childhood

Zimmer was the first manager that I actively remember. Not that he was any good though.

“(It’s) the fact that he missed so much time,” Maddon said. “Right now, we’re OK. Obviously, if there’s an injury, then that could accelerate maybe, possibly. But for right now, though, I think our guys are pretty comfortable with the work that he’s getting and the progress he’s making – and not to really rush into it.”

Sox are getting absolutely blasted. So stupid to not trade Shark. Look at the value we got out of him compared to them. I know its different context, but still.

I wanted them to go for it at the deadline and do something dumb like trade Fulmer for hitting.

Their hot stretch was a mirage.

Mine was Jim Frey. And I guess I'm old.
