Looks like somebody threw away a perfectly good Vance Worley. White people. Amiright.

Please tell me that is not a Mike Morse? That was one of the hottest items a few Christmas' ago. Probably just needs some new batteries.

Oh, and is that a Brandon Beachy? I bet with a little bit of tape and a whole lot of Bosio, it'll be good as new.

If anyone's willing to move that decomposing raccoon, there's a Brandon Moss under it.

And check out that Jeff Baker. I used to have one just like it when I was a kid. Only it didn't reek quite as much of fish and stale cottage cheese.

Quick, somebody tackle that vagrant before he runs off with Bud Norris!

Morse was traded to the Pirates for Tabata.

Moss was traded to the Cardinals.

There's a number of guys who should go through waivers that would be interesting. I'd put Kennedy's name out there as a prime example, but apparently Preller is insane.

Like an 8 year old discovering pixie sticks for the first time, the highs and lows of the trade deadline made my brain its bitch.

It seems unlikely that this front office is going to acquire anyone with a contract requiring any significant financial obligation. The Haren deal (where the Dodgers are paying his contract) should be a prime indicator that this team is saving every dollar it can for an offseason "splurge."

I honestly don't expect much of anything from the waiver wire.

I actually think we're paying all but 500,000 of Haren's remaining salary.

The Dodgers sent 10 mill or whatever to Miami-but at that point, I guess it's theirs to do with what they want. I guess they used the Dodgers money to pay for him while he was a Marlin, but pocketed the last 2 months salary, minus 500,000.

Honest question, why would you think it would work that way? I always assumed it meant the original team would keep sending the player checks throughout the year.

That's what I'd always thought as well. But I've seen a few articles mentioning we're receiving 500K from the Marlins and are responsible for the rest.

I'd have thought if the player is traded with cash, that the money goes towards paying him. But I guess the team can do whatever they want with it. Again, I'm making assumptions based on verbiage so I could definitely be wrong. It certainly seems like a Lauria type thing he'd do.

I have always thought that team A is sending money to team B and team B can use that money for any purpose. I don't have any specific reason why I thought this way so I could certainly be wrong. Looking at the trade for Haren, it appears that the Marlins are keeping some of the money from the Dodgers.

Alex Torres DFAd by the Mets. Big control issues, but he's always been tough to hit. I'm not sure I wouldn't take him over Russell or Wood.
