I read how Coghlan came up as a 2b. Would it be bad if Joe tried the following when Ross needs to catch?

Schwarber in LF

Coghlan at 2b

Russell/Castro SS

At least you get Schwarber bat in the lineup everyday!!!

If you guys want to stop threads you dont think arent worthy, just ignore them.

Replying to them is super contradictory, in relation to your own hypocritical causes.

If you keep slamming new posters/threads this forum is going to die. People will just go to reddit.

Stop [expletive] being assholes.

Stop [expletive] being [expletive].

He joined this year and has started approximately 839 threads with people saying the same thing for the last 676.

1. He isn't going anywhere because of that.

2. If he does, he does. Same for you or anyone. It's a [expletive] message board. If people post stupid things you can make fun of their post. The goal isn't to rack up as many people as possible here. If you want to go somewhere with the most members, go for it.

3. The forum isn't going to die because cracked out threads that are started everyday earn a sarcastic comment.

1) No, he's probably not going anywhere. Not sure if the account is elaborate troll, or the user perceives the actual, intended abuse, as good-natured ribbing.

2) If Tim's using ad revenue to at least cover server/bandwidth costs, to an extent the goal is to rack up a certain number of people. I'm certain that Tim would love it, if this was a moneymaking endeavor as well. Offensive people, both agitators and trolls, will serve to drive the userbase, both registered and unregistered, away. It's not just registered users who see ads.

3) It is true that the forum won't die from cracked out threads getting sarcastic comments, but a forum that is perceived as highly unwelcoming to newcomers, will eventually die out.

Seems like no one here can ever remotely attempt to think outside the box. Have fun being cookie cutter hope you don't get bored at life

Coghlan has and can play 2b.

Having cog plus schwarber in the lineup every day is better than Russell and Castro who both stink.

Screw defense the cubs are already one of the worst this year.

Everyone know the offense sucks but no one is willing to think of ideas to make it better knowing that trades Prolly just won't happen

So I'll attempt to make a civil post to explain why you're getting ridiculed here. Coghlan came up as an infielder but has only played a handful of games there in the majors for a reason. He's bad at it and should only be there in an emergency. yes, he's probably better at 2B and 3B than anybody on this message board could ever hope to be, but that still doesn't mean he should be playing there in the majors. All people ask on here is that you use a little deductive reasoning when making a post. For instance, if the post had been "Hey guys, I know he's probably not great in the infield, but was Coughlam so much of a butcher that he can't play there on a regular basis?", there likely would have been some decent replies not ridiculing your thought process.

Also Joe and the brain trust are keen on run prevention so I'm thinking that Cogs in the infield is not under consideration.

I also think they are hoping that Baez can learn to make more contact so they can ship Starlin out in the offseason. I'm a huge Castro supporter, but at this point I think he's got to go if they can find a better option. His defense is bad to mediocre and he can't learn to take the pitch the other way.

Personally, I think as soon as Baez shows he's healthy, he's coming up and playing 2B, moving Russell to SS. The only reason Castro is still starting games is that there is no other option. (besides Herrera, who is not really an upgrade)

In a perfect world, they trade for Zobrist, though.

He's being ridiculed because he keeps saying that 21 year old rookies are terrible and will never be good, and his outside the box solutions are putting journeyman players into poor defensive positions to square hole together the "best" bats

I dont see the point placing bets on run prevention when they run bum ass has beens out in the 10th like Soriano. Also, i'd game on scoring more runs than giving up more runs. if the pitching is as good as the stats show than thats a risk im willing to take.

You said

its pretty evident the rebuild needs to be rebuilt

Doesn't sound like you're too confident in the rookies getting better

yeah i think they need to swap some young talent with other teams that have young guys and get a couple more guys who dont strike out 3 times per game 4 days a week

How do you propose Russell gets good for next year? Batting practice? Watching Coughlan kick balls kick balls around the infield?

So, trade our young guys who are still as highly regarded as almost any rookies in baseball for other teams' unproven rookies? If they then struggle, wash rinse repeat?

Also, punctuation is your friend.

Terrible ideas =/= thinking outside the box.

I get why you did this. But I want you to take a step back and realize that finding and bumping this thread again just makes you look like a vindictive SOB to a crowd that already keeps you at arms-length.
