I believe Len said the Cubs are 16-9 when Ross starts. Granted, he's catching Lester in probably 15 of those games, but he is a solid defender, but he shouldn't be catching at any other time other than when Ross is pitching, especially since we have 3 catchers. Soler and Coghlan are both showing very good signs, Rizzo and Bryant have been looking a little mystified of late, but Bryant hit a home run today. Castro is lost. Russell is meh, but good on defense. Fowler is coming back better than the last month before the break. Our hitting will be there, it might be spotty, but that's the part I think we wait for it to come into it's own, it'll happen. The 5th starter is.. Well we don't even know who that is actually..

Deadline NEEDS(not wants): a starting pitcher that is equal or better than Hammel and at least one proven bullpen arm, more like two.

This is really a series you HAVE to take 2/3 or probably sweep. With Hamels tomorrow, not saying the Cubs can't beat him, but it's not a Jerome Williams. These games are inexcusable for blowing.

Not sure why they're pitching to Rizzo in the first place.

rizzo has been in a horrid slump since the all star break

Soler against Giles' slider is about as sure of a strike out as there is.

It is crazy to think that last year we were talking about our riches at shortstop with Castro being a stud, Baez destroying the minors and trading for the stud all-around Russell..

Castro will soon be hitting below .230.. Baez has shown a little rejuvenation after striking out more than Screech with Lisa, but our hope for him is "please don't be a bust," as opposed to "I can't wait to see him back!" The last guy on our list has shown the most promise and is our best defensive player on the field and we are forcing him to focus on defense as opposed to spending that time improving and developing his hitting, but hey it's ok, it's because the guy he's shifting to second base for is hitting .234, is excellent at hitting into double plays, and is a defensive liability at shortstop..
