Hendrick is fine as the 5th starter if you upgrade that #4.
Kyle Hendricks is bad

#5 starters are generally bad. Jason Marquis was the #5 in 2008 when they won 97 games.

How many times do we have to go over the fact that 2008 Marquis was not bad. In fact he was almost exactly average I believe.

if hendricks is "bad" then 2008 marquis was bad

Worse ERA than Marquis in a much worse hitting environment. Hendricks ERA+ was 90 before today, Marquis was at 101.

Of course Hendricks FIP suggests that he's been better than his ERA

2008 Jason Marquis had a 4.61 FIP and a 4 K/9 lol. "Not bad"

ERA- of exactly 100 and 1.8 fWAR in 170ish innings

Someone explain to me how Mets' reject Justin Turner suddenly becomes a .900+ ops masher at age 30.

I wondered the same thing so I looked and it appears his BABIP has been 50+ pts higher than the rest of his career since he got to LA.

Does anyone actually like Sutcliffe? His voice is grating.

Meatballs? Especially as he's taking Starlin to the woodshed right now.

At least it was deserved in this case.

It's deserved about 99% of the time. Really the only time it wasn't was when Kruk and Schilling were berating him for a ball hitting a rock and blaming it on him.

Face it, Starlin sucks this year and he has mental lapses. It's not breaking news anymore.

I want to say creative pharmacology but the BABIP answer seems more sound.

Dodgers found where the Cardinals keep their pixie dust ??

All I know is that the Dodgers have it good enough with the best pitcher in baseball and a loaded minor league system and limitless payroll. They don't deserve to have past-their-prime mediocrities turning into middle of the order stalwarts.
