I've been very optimistic about the Cubs' future. They have money to spend, the have several very good young hitters and about 4-5 years before any of them make superstar money. The only tough spot for the Cubs going forward will be investing large dollar amounts in arms which can be very dangerous, but that's where they have people who get paid plenty of money to study and investigate who is most likely to be a better investment.

This board's pretty damn realistic about the Cubs except for the game threads, which is riddled both absurd pessimism and random games when you go on these really amusing aggro super positivity bouts. It's pretty great.

maybe go back and read the last few pages again because your reading comp appears to be really bad

The weird new guy is obviously wrong about the board being homers. You're still doing the hilarious aggro positive thing. WE CAN HAVE TWO THINGS.

aggro positive by citing projections and playoff odds?

isn't that more like actually aggro realistic?

With the Dodgers for 4 and St. Louis for 3 coming up

Point taken but playing STL is probably a good thing because at least we have a modicum of control over whether they win

No, no, all the other stuff, like with that AR guy and the other sad sacks and Kyle. That's the fiery positive David that cracks me up. Your conversation with the new guy is pretty boring, actually.

Last time Cubs were in St. Louis they should have easily won 3 of 4.

8 behind STL, ugh

The only times we need to worry about Cardinals results this year are when they are playing wild-card rivals, us in the regular season, or us when we meet them in the NLDS.

Hey, I'm at work. I'm a totally different kind of loser.

Wada vs Kershaw has me cringing already. I hope the Wada shows up who either strikes out 10 guys randomly or just lets people hit bullets right at people.

Honestly as long as the Cubs are within 3-4 of a playoff spot come Sept 1, I'm really not going to get all that worked up on a day to day basis. I must have grown up because I was leading the irrational brigade in years past
