Boston going nuts

Lucic traded to Kings. WTF is Boston doing?

As for Versteeg, Montreal is one of the best franchises to play for

Edited: I see above it was BS about Versteeg. But maybe rap music is terrible in Montreal?

booo only one weekend game in st louis. should be able to make that one though

And the Bears are in town the next day. Nice little doubleheader if you're willing to open up the wallet.

I have Bears Rams tickets! I will go to Hawks-Blues for sure the night before. What a great double header.

Hmm that's interesting. I wasn't planning on doing either of the Bears games in Missouri this year because I think they're going to be awful and I'd rather watch football on my couch, but maybe I'll make it a double header after all.

So what happens if Sharp is not moved today? Panic?

Well I guess the likelihood is a move tomorrow that will probably involve an established (but of course much cheaper) player coming back. Good news is the word has been the market is strong for Sharp and Bickell and a market actually exists for Versteeg.

The Blackhawks won't get much of anything for Sharp either. Sharp has been just God awful since January 2014 and teams know this. He looked completely lost and old in the playoffs too.

You couldn't be more wrong on the return for Sharp.

I don't think the Hawks will get much. Personally, I wouldn't want him at all for the 5.9 mill cap hit. The fact that a deal has not been done yet leads me to believe that the offers the Hawks have received have been far lower than a first round pick or a quality prospect. Maybe after the 1st couple of days of FA a team will panic and offer a decent prospect.

well, Detroit wouldn't want him because they're more than one player away. For a team that's ready, he offers a lot of value.

Detroit is probably just a really good power forward away from being a contender....unfortunately those are not easy to acquire. More to your point, if a team is just one player away, is Sharp still that player? I am sure a lot of teams would like to have him, including the Hawks. I just don't think many teams want to pay him 5.9, plus picks/prospects. If he was worth that the Hawks would be trying to figure out how to keep him.

Raanta for a Rangers forward haggerty

Hmm wasn't expecting our first move to be adding salary but trading our 3rd goalie for a young forward isn't a bad move

Edit: also certainly a two way contract

He'll most certainly be worth it to a team looking to add offense. He's 1 year removed from a 34 goal season, teams are interested in top 6 forwards who can put the puck in the goal, and there's a market.

The Hawks just can't afford him, and have other options. Other teams might not.

Zawaski is reporting that the Hawks were offering Saad 2 years at $2.8m AAV and trying to sell him on playing for cheap for 2 years then getting a much bigger deal. Saads camp is said to be asking for 4 years at $4m AAV. If I am the Hawks I [expletive] accept that offer before Wednesday when some team will offer him at the very least 5/25.

His wording was unclear but he made it seem like he heard the Hawks chances of keeping Saad were 50/50 which I think is insane and false(and he says basically the same thing)

"Bridge" deals aren't typically four years. But I agree, lock him up.

Also, good to see Pronger and Lidstrom get into the Hall. It's easier to be magnanimous about this sort of thing (rival guys getting in, though of course they deserve it) due to the Hawks' recent success.

Also, Bill Hay was voted in. He played for the Hawks back in the day though I think he's going in as an exec or "builder." My dad and I met him at the HHOF a few years ago. He was just milling about the exhibits. Real nice guy, stood and chatted with us for a few minutes.

I never had much of a problem with Lidstrom other than being a rival but i might be missing some sort of incident in the dark ages that I blocked out of my mind. He was a damn good player.

And Pronger...well hated him back in St Louis but I kind of respect him at the same time. His ability to get in opponents heads and also deflect attention away from his teammates was second to none
