If they weren't gonna match, this was the right move, obviously.

Yea and it seems they had urgency to get it done. Hopefully with Sharp they can wait out the market a bit and still get a decent return. Put that money into the blue line.

Is this really better than picks?

Everyone is saying this Dano was the key to the deal. Late first round pick in 2013, had 8 G and 13 assists as a center in 35 games. Only 20. So I guess he was playing pretty close to Saad's pace (Saad had 52 points, Dano was on pace for 49) and at a more premium position.

Yeah I'd rather have the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks than this [expletive] package

I'm disappointed because Saad was my favorite Hawk, but in terms of value, they got plenty and it doesn't really hurt the team.

trading a young all star caliber player hurts pretty [expletive] badly

i can't believe this

Plenty of what?

Plenty of value. A depth center and a very talented young center.

This is ridiculous. This package is definitely better than the picks. Dano is the prize here.

Marko Dano's 19/20 year old season (35 games): 19 PTS, 56% of the scoring chances, 54% of the Corsis on a middling team.

Forwards. Each of who seem like they can fill a roll in 2016- including a young piece.

Whst picks would they have gotten in RFA?

I'm calming down but dammit I liked Saad a little too much to be happy right now.

CBJ fan reaction seems to be very happy but wishing they didnt have to give up Dano.

So I take it I should be happy with this trade

I would be if I was you.

Dano is going to be good. Tropp.....eh. Anisimov was a bigger part of the team a few seasons ago, but between Johansen 's breakout and Dubinsky moving from wing to center, he's dropped to a 3rd liner

Both teams can be happy.

In a perfect world, Saad would be on a line with Andrew Ladd and Campbell would be our fourth D.

In a cap world, losing Saad, gaining two playable centers (one of whom is quite young and talented himself) is a lateral move at worst.

It can never be a lateral move at worst if you lose the best player in a trade.

Oh, you are in one of those moods. Feel free to wristslash away.

i don't blame a player for taking the most money, but i wish saad wasn't all dempstery with his comments in the last 2 weeks. maybe he was just riding the cup high, but that's kind of annoying. also kind of meatbally from me, but whatever.

This isn't a terrible return.

And it probably helps his leverage in Sharp talks because he doesn't have to move him.

I can't fault saad at all.
