Because not everybody judges a player's worth based on his most recent AB/pitch

i can get the pitcher 8 in the nl but against the AL why wouldnt he put russell higher in the order? wouldnt be still be protected batting 2 with rizzo and bryant after?

Because as exciting as his future is and even though he's doing well for a 21 year old (especially when you factor in defense), he's still not THAT good of a hitter right now.
