If they're not going to bother doing something about this offense then they should at very least see what the market for Coghlan,Fowler and maybe Hammel is.

Coghlan and Fowler, sure, they don't have any real future with the team, but why trade Hammel? They need pitching and it's not like they are or should be in fire sale mode. Edited by Sammy Sofa

It just means a lesser rental or hopefully, finding a longer controlled guy.

Worst series of the year. And I'm [expletive] livid. But we're buying.

On July 21, 2014, the Royals were 4.5 games out of the 2nd wild card with four teams in front of them. They were 48-50, with the 2nd worst offense in the AL and a negative run differential. They had lost 7 of 8, with five of those losses seeing them score 1 or 0 runs.

I'm not saying a run like that is likely, or that it doesn't suck that we've sucked lately, but maybe let the season play out before we give up on it or retroactively declare it "not really trying."

The Cubs are playing the worst baseball of the year. They're a chore to watch. They've fallen to 2 games behind for the 2nd Wild Card in a single weekend. And they don't appear to be getting any better.

This being said, they're still only 2 games out of a playoff spot with over 2 months to play. If anything, we should be more aggressive as buyers, because October is very much within reach. And I don't want to head any of the "it wasn't supposed to be our year anyway" nonsense. We're in contention. Let's contend.

You're starting to believe in Theo.

NIce. Real nice.

ETA: Crap, I thought the Idiot poster wrote this. Never mind. Still, good point by you.

ETAA: Wait. It was Idiot! You ARE starting to believe. Nice. Also, still, good point by you.

Quite the opposite. The fact that this season is still very much in play gives me room to criticize Epstein if he doesn't do the right moves to get them there. It's the Epstein supporters that can't wait to declare this a "not really trying" year that doesn't matter for some reason.

Wait. The fact that this season is very much in play with two months left.....that's in spite of Theo?

I believe the phrase we're looking for is a "happy in-between."

We are exactly where we are because of Theo. This does not absolve him of where we've been nor credit him for where we may yet be.

Fair enough. You will someday love him, though. You will.

Maybe this has been discussed before but, why did you pick the name Hairyducked Idiot? Is there some backstory?

IMB! called me a "hairydicked idiot" for some thing or another and I thought it was funny and asked for a name change. They wouldn't let me have it spelled normally.

lmfao i ran into this looking for the kazmir thread

we won 97 [expletive] games and got to the nlcs

i'd say the existence of this thread completely nullifies the credit this moron got for predicting coghlan at 2B
