you do realize a .693 OPS with a .360 OBP is far from awful right?

also if his high water mark was 2 weeks ago how could that be "inflated" by his hot first month?

Read my last couple of posts. That's a little better than what most people should expect from him once he gets out of this prolonged slump.

His high mark for OPS on the year was like 2 weeks ago.

Hooray for stats inflated by his freak first month: he's hit .200 .360 .333 .693 over the last 28 days going in to tonight, and it's only gotten worse from there.

April 5-18: .754 OPS

April 19 - May 1: .878 OPS

May 2-17: 1.073

May 18 - yesterday: .512 OPS

Sure looks like you're confusing a slump with some inevitable descent to terrible.

What's the break down of May 2-17?

Christ, Montero still has a .361 OBP despite this slump and putting up near a 1 WAR. I think he's the last of our concerns (besides Rizzo and Bryant of course).

Actually, he's a big part of why the offense is going through a prolonged rough patch. Weren't you the one saying the offense is "in trouble" tonight?

People are allowed to have slumps, it's the guys that haven't hit or gotten on base all year like Starlin that are the problem right now. But I know we're not allowed to criticize Starlin and his sub .300 OBP and sub -0.3 WAR here.

Right now the problem is the people who aren't hitting right now.

they faced some tough pitchers in recent series and it seems like they are seeing a hologram of the nats staff or something at the plate..

that's silly. how do you even define what right now is?

baseball is constant ebbs and flows

the problem is the guys who have sucked overall and yes, starlin has sucked really badly overall

Man, Philosobot is no fun at all.

Some of the players are really stinking right now. And Starlin had a good start, too.

While I agree with David (which I'm sure thrills him to no end) about Montero, the fact that we have this juggernaut in AA who happens to play the same position could be more than enough to spark a Free Kyle Schwarber campaign in the very near future.

Bryant is in LF also

Make way for Javy?

Ash Marshall @AshMarshallMLB

Iowa manager Marty Pevey says Javy Baez has taken grounders at 3B during infield this week, could play games there in coming weeks. #Cubs

Time to trade Rizzo so Schwarber can play.

I'm a pretty high strung fan. I'm glad I have these game threads to make me feel like there are people who get more angry than I do.

Arbitrary endpoint stats are the worst of all possible stats. They're worse than wins and RBIs.
