Tossed the bat several feet in the air after popping out and impeded Montero's pursuit.

Popped it straight up. He just stood there a few steps from the plate, forcing Montero to bump into him as he tried to get by, then flipped his bat straight up in the air. It didn't do any harm, but it could have.
