When they changed the rules so catchers "weren't allowed to block the plate" they called like 2 guys safe because of it... then it went back to the way it used to be... block the plate as much as you want.

why have instant replay if you're going to let some inconclusive replays stand and overturn other ones? i'm all for replay, but apply it consistently and correctly. that was awful.

Pitcher batting eighth has bitten us twice recently, but I still like it.

When during this season has it resulted in RBI by the 9th batter?

Like Len is currently saying, this has zero to do with the move. It's about getting more RBI chances for your 1-3 hitters when they come around the next time.

I heard it but it's frustrating to see Lester have 6 LOBs yesterday and now again 2 today. Just not sold on it yet.

Apparently the resolution to the tampering charge was to quietly instruct the umpiring crews to screw us all April.

ok, that was funny

He was probably out I think, but that's never how they've enforced it.

Now watch there be a bad call we won't be able to challenge.

was it angel hernandez who was saying he was going to [expletive] up the replay plays on purpose out of spite?

especially after the "well the cubs are right but you can't really tell anything conclusively" challenges that have gone against us of late, this is pretty infuriating. i honestly think the replay rule ought to be "look at the replay and make the call whatever you think it should be regardless of what happened on the field," but that's not the rule we have.

Who else would it be?

If Angel Hernandez tries to screw up calls, they probably end up right.

i would also like some [expletive] accountability in the system. if you're going to overturn that call, show us after the game how the person reviewing the replay conclusively determined that rizzo was out.

funny...that swing by Castro drove the ball further than Herrera muscling up and hitting one square.

I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten over winter about Herrera being our starting 2b for any length of time. All it took was Baez brettjacksoning, Valbuena being traded, Alcantara getting benched, La Stella getting hurt and Russell being held down for a bit longer.

Castro's swing/stance this year has just looked unbalanced to me, he seems to be bailing out on just about every swing

Yup. He's made it almost impossible for him to go the other way or get to a pitch outside corner.
