I have never heard of Kristopher Negron before in my life.

Theo and Jed drafted him and haven't tried to get him back, so he must be really, really bad.

well that was very nice of them to sit Hamilton today against Mr. Free Steals

So either Price is a moron, Hamilton is hurt, or the no pickoff throws thing is overblown?

Mesoraco is not starting because he's having an MRI on his hip that's bothering him. If he's still out come Wednesday that'll be a nice boost for Wood, leaving Frazier as the only really dangerous RH hitter in that lineup.

Him not throwing pick offs isn't really overblown . He literally hasn't attempted a pick off since 2013. I just don't think he gives a [expletive] anymore because of his confidence in himself to pitch his way out of trouble. He got BABIP'd to death in the opener so all those SB's that lead to runs scored looked especially bad in that light. .571 BABIP for that game, leading to a 6.23 ERA... but a 1.62 FIP and 2.52 xFIP.

He'll be fine, and once he starts putting up ace numbers people are going to shut up about the stupid no pickoffs thing. And I quoted it in the other Lester thread, but I always like to bring up this nugget of Greg Maddux knowledge whenever people talk about not paying attention to runners at first...

I loved to sit next to [Greg Maddux] on the bench during games. One day, he just looked at me and said, 'Only 18 percent of all baserunners score. So don't worry about the runners. Just concentrate on the hitter.'

The thing that cracks me up about the 'run all over Lester' narrative is that it wasn't even true last week. Here's the SB attempts:

Carpenter out stealing 2nd - This wasn't overly close

Wong safe stealing 2nd - This was a horrible throw from Ross that skipped into CF, Wong is very likely out with even a decent throw

Heyward safe stealing 3rd - Heyward got a huge jump here, but that's how most 3B steals happen and is not really related to Lester's throwing

Holliday safe stealing 2nd - This was behind Heyward on the same play, definitely not related to Lester's throwing

So you've got one guy out at 2nd, another that should have been out if not for Ross, and a double steal that's unrelated to any yips. None of those 4 players scored, so the FIP/ERA comparison for his start holds true too. If it didn't happen on ESPN and opening night when there were no other narratives to try to create, we wouldn't have to deal with this silliness.

Is it still cool to bring food into Wrigley?

Fairly certain.

Yeah, my friend brought in a slice of Bacci on opening night. He is very cheap so he likes gigantic slices of pizza for not much money.

Leave in Coglan and take out Arismendy and you'll score many more runs. Bryant is just fine at 3B. Russell can play second.
