@CSNMooney #Cubs putting Justin Grimm on DL with right forearm inflammation. Brian Schlitter is here at Coors Field to join bullpen.

I wondered a little why Grimm didn't get an appearance against STL, that problem also explains his infrequent ST usage. Bummer, hope it's more of an Arrieta problem than a TJ precursor, Grimm was awesome in the 2nd half last year.

Epstein says Justin Grimm is throwing in AZ, close to a bullpen, and then rehab assignment would follow. Good news.

#Cubs Justin Grimm threw bullpen in AZ today. Neil Ramirez there, too, for rehab. No timetable for return

Meanwhile, RHP Justin Grimm (on Cubs MLB 15-day DL with right forearm inflammation since April 2nd) threw two bullpen sessions this week, and so he will probably begin pitching in Extended Spring Training games early next week.

I saw RHP Neil Ramirez (on Cubs MLB 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation since 4/16) playing catch on the Agility Field on Thursday, but he has not started throwing bullpens yet, so he is a few days behind Grimm.

Because getting "stretched-out" and building up pitch counts isn't that important for relief pitchers, Grimm and Ramirez will not need a whole lot of rehab games to get back into MLB game shape. The main thing to be concerned about with Grimm and Ramirez are medical setbacks during the course of the rehab that could send the pitcher back to "square-one" (or worse).

So no setbacks and perhaps Grimm is back up in 7-10 days? Ramirez closer to 2 weeks?

I'd say 2-2.5 weeks for Grimm and end of May for Ramirez to be conservative, this front office has not been in any rush whatsoever with any pitching injuries.

He pitched a few days ago in extended spring training and Arizona Phil said he was dominant. Good news.

Grimm close to being "hatched," Maddon said. Will pitch tonight for Iowa.

He threw one inning with no hits, a walk and two strikouts

What are strikouts? Are they as good as strikeouts? :D

Per Twitter, Grimm has been activated (Szczur too). Lake and Varvaro to AAA.

Nice, though I'd rather have Lake up instead of Szczur since they're more likely to see time in LF than CF.
