4-6 week timetable

Gar pretty much made it be known that there would be disappointment if Rose does not return this year.

If he doesn't come back, I'm totally on board with cutting him and spreading out the hit over the next five years. And if that makes me a meatball, so be it.

I prefer to pay him next year. Bring in the best backup PG you can with the assumption that he will be starting at some point. Trade Taj or Noah for this to happen. Then after next year, try to use his contract as an expiring, along with whatever assets you have at that time, to land a star to go along with Mirotic and Jimmy. If a trade for a star can't be made, and Rose is not healthy again next year, then cut him and spread the 23-24M over 5 years.

Hopefully none of is this matters and he's back for the playoffs.

I haven't checked out the cap lately but I'm not even sure what the cap benefit that move is. Are you really freeing much if anything? Perhaps a MLE and BAE?

I never said anything close to if Rose would have come back like Westbrook he wouldn't have gotten hurt again. My point was only if the doctors clear you to play, you play. You can't hurt your knee more by coming back if cleared. Rose's knee was bound to feel off, but you have to go through that to get better. And we have no reason to think Rose is going to play in the playoffs if cleared by the doctors because mentally Rose can't trust himself. His history says so. If he's going to get injured again I don't think playing this year is going to increase those chances.

He doesn't trust himself/his body because it has failed repeatedly. He wasn't putting up consistently awesome numbers because, for the most part, he couldn't, not because he doesn't have the awe-inspiring mental strength of Westbrook.

Not entirely, but the mental part is certainly a significant contributor to him not returning to his previous form.

That's meatball talk. The guy didn't somehow choose to only play at 75%; he's just flat out sucked at times to varying degrees because he's been hurt. Odds are he's mostly been dealing with physical issues. Besides the knee stuff, he's dealt with a LOT more along those lines than Westbrook; his body simply doesn't work like he wants/needs it to. It's a dumb comparison because, again, it acts like both players are the same on every level.

Mirotic is so damn skilled. He's gonna be really scary when he gets a little stronger and more experienced.

He's pretty damn fun to watch.

Hinrich, on the other hand, is like basketball cancer. Why the [expletive] are you playing him when you desperately need offense?

Made Matt Barnes his bitch for a good part of the 2nd half.

Butler is gone 3 to 6 weeks. I don't know if I can bring myself to watch a game during that span. It's going to be some really really bad basketball.

I'd be nearly impossible to slip past the 6 seed, so just ignore the Bulls for 4-5 weeks and hope they are healthy and can do their best in the playoffs.

I'm still excited to watch Snell and Mirotic get extended minutes. Maybe Dougie even gets some run. Hopefully this will allow Jimmys other injuries to heal and he comes back with enough time to shake off the rust before the playoffs.

Nice game by Doug. How has he lost the ability to shoot?

Basically not playing in a competitive game for 3-4 months tends to do that to you.

As amazing as it sounds, Kirk Hinrich is actually getting worse as the season goes on. I don't know if his confidence is shot, or he's hurt or if he's tanking so Thibs doesn't play him because he knows he's hurting the team, but I haven't seen a player affect the game as much as Hinrich since Michael Jordan.

He sucked at shooting at the beginning of the season too.
