I'm only going off the box score, but he only had 6 minutes before garbage time.

i mean...that'll happen when it's garbage time in the middle of the 3rd quarter

Have fun losing 60 games, Carmelo.

Realistically, Mirotic isn't going to play with Gasol and Gibson in front of him. I expect short first half minutes, garbage time and injury situations to be his season.

As people, as men, I respect [the Bulls players.] But come Wednesday night, we're fighting for the same thing, which is a championship. And it starts Wednesday. I'll speak to them. I'm a cordial guy, but when it's time to go to war, it's time to go to war.

I DVRd that ESPN broadcast. I still like JVG, but my god, that broadcast was terrible. If I have to hear one more discussion about the triangle offense and how the Knicks will have to be patient to learn it, but then get all new players next year that better fit the system, I'm going to rip my ears off. Internal ear canal and all.

Great game. Taj was the best player on the court. By far. Pau looked good. Brooks fit the CJ/JL3/Nate/DJ mold perfectly and will excel in his role. I'm sure he'll make a nice salary somewhere next year. I'm also excited to see Brooks and Rose play together some. Dunleavy did a great job on Melo, although their offense was terrible and the Knicks never really looked to iso Melo. He missed a lot of shots on the offensive side, but that'll happen. McD looked good. Solid defense, made the right decision most of the time, looked less hesitant than he did most preseason. I think he's going to be a real nice player, especially once he adds some strength in the offseason. That pull-up 3 he hit in the 4th Q when we were up like 30 was pretty awesome. Loved the chest bump with Joakim afterwards. Noah needs some more time to get into better shape, but moved a lot better out there today. Played well defensively and it's nice to not have to rely on him for offense. Mirotic played well for the most part. Needs to head-fake less and shoot more, but I think that'll come as the season moves on. Kirk was pretty bad until garbage time, but at least he'll give you a consistent effort on the defensive side and can take some ball-handling pressure off of Rose. Rose looked pretty good. Was great in transition. Made a lot of good decisions (especially in the 2nd half) and created a lot of easy shots for his teammates. Mid-range shot looked nice, but the 3 ball looked as bad as ever.

It was nice that we were able to rest Rose, Joakim, and Pau. I hope our second unit keeps dominating teams so this can become the norm throughout the regular season. Hopefully our offensive efficiency was partially real and not just terrible Knicks defense. Can't wait for Friday.

I've seen Pau bang more in the post tonight than I saw Boozer do in the last two seasons. The cool thing is when he faces up he can still take it to the hoop.

But he doesn't scream, so I don't think he's playing hard.

Really impressed with McBuckets' defense. Seems to have really taken to coaching well. Going to be interesting to see the end of close games lineup. Is it possible Noah is the one on the bench late up front?

I thought maybe that was his LOSS percentage at first glance, but even that's way wrong.

Yeah, I've tried a few different "bad math" ways to figure out where the number came from, but .478 is as close as I can get.

@DraftExpress: Best NBA rookie debut performances according to PER? (min.15 min)- Doug McDermott (22), Marcus Smart (20), Nikola Mirotic (17), Napier (12)

After watching Doug for the last four years, it's clear that he's improved significantly on the defensive side in the just the past 5 months. he's more athletic than people gave him credit for, but he's certainly quicker than he was in college

He was also asked not to play too hard on defense in college because he they wanted him using all his energy on offense and they didn't want him getting in foul trouble.

If that's true that next to unbelievable. That his dad told him to not use quickness of defense. I think Doug looked really good. How much did he play of His 25 minutes against the knicks starters? The knicks second unit was a disaster. You can reall tell fisher has zero idea how to coach an nba rotation. He let his bench let a game get out of hand and did not use timeouts to keep the game from getting out of control.

If Doug can produce that statline on a nightly basis that would be gret for us. It's like have two dunleavys but him being potentially a better shooter. This could limit the reliance on butlers offense to zero.

Lookin at the team now, I wonder if it would have made sense to try to move Mirotic for a different stash player.

Unbelievable that he's become quicker and more agile with professional training?

Also, to David's point, that's spot on. Doug's defensive positioning was usually quite good, and we never got a chance to see him defend on the perimeter since he was matched up against mostly 4's in college.

Probably not. This window is gonna close real fast.

I totally believe a guy can he quicker with his first pro offseason and working with top level physios and better diet etc. I just thought it's odd that he was asked to not play hard on defense by his dad the coach.

Aaron Brooks has a +25 in 24 minutes last night. Our second unit crushed their second unit. A three way combination of a having a great second unit them having a bad second unit and D Fish being an idiot.

Outside of Cleveland and Portland I think we have the longest window of the current contending teams.
