Having the worst pass defense (and near worst special teams) in the league will never get you to 5-3 or 6-2 even if you have a top 5 offense. It's just easier to blame the offense because that's the team's focus, but the reason they didn't make the postseason last year was the defense, and it's no better this year.

Not to the front office. This team is designed to be elite office and only mediocre defense. The defense is expectedly bad while the offense is frustratingly lacking.

This. I think you "could" make a case for 5-3 at best with an elite offense as the 27 by Dolphins is borderline. Last year we had 5 games with 21 pts or less and 2 more games at 23 and 24 pts.

I didn't even mention the defense because I was disputing the fact that that is the 10th best offensive output in the league.

That's not really how averages work. The Bears scored less than 28 points 9 times last year.

11th, by my count, and that's with one or two more games than 14 of the other 21. We've outscored seven teams that have played 8 games.
