The Rockies announcers just spent 4 minutes wondering why Valbuena was not bunting. One of the two almost seemed angry. "He on;y has 5 sac bunts in his entire career as a super-utility player?!!! With a career.220 average!?! (asks partner) Would you bunt with a career .220 hitter?" "I wouldn't even have him in the game!" (After the inevitable walk) "Well, it is a moot point now..." :banghead:

So after you let dog [expletive] Nate hit, NOW you want to bunt when it's not really going to do any good? Ugh.

It's about avoiding a double play and hopefully adding the pressure of avoiding a wild pitch for the next hitter.

Then bunt with Nate, who sucks, and at least create the possibility of a sac fly. I'm not against bunting, but with 1 out the benefits are minimal.

If you're bunting with Schierholtz, the only possibility of a sac fly is with Arrieta at the plate. The bunt was not about moving runners, it's about making sure Arrieta doesn't kill the inning with a double play.

Len ditching JD in the stands and JD doing PBP is probably going to be the highlight of the season for me.

You know, besides the fact I'm actually still watching this game.

Arrieta didn't have to hit. Isn't Baker still available? (I realize I'm killing my point by defending Baker as an MLB hitter.)

Also, why the hell did Gonzalez try to catch that foul ball barehanded way back in like the 6th inning?

Do Len and JD do a second 7th inning stretch? Is that still a thing? If so I'm pumped.

Weird, Gameday has had the home bench as empty for a long while. Either way, if the alternative is letting Schierholtz bunt so it's easier for Baker to drive in the run, there isn't all that much of a difference there.

And there you have it, Baker can't pinch hit because he needs to pitch.
